James Gentry: This bass sounds so freaking good I can’t believe it. The intonation was perfect right out of the box. Plays great. Didn’t have to touch a thing. Even the truss rod was dead on. Rich bottom - great highs. Seriously, you cannot lose with this bass at this price. I bought this kind of on a whim and figured I wouldn’t like it and would probably return it, but I’m a believer now. I keep it in my studio and it’s hilarious to have a bass player buddy try the thing out. Then I tell them it was well under $200. Super fun!
Many thanks. I can’t imagine how’s this bass can sell so cheap, but

Aub: Preface: I am not a musician, I have never held or tried to play one of those $400-1000 monster basses so I can't compare. I use a Squire Jazz Bass as my main noisemaker. I'm terrible - but enthusiastic!
I picked this up as a backup while my Squire is in the shop getting loved on and, simply put, I wish I had bought this first. I love my Squire, she's pretty and all that, great personality, hell of a sound, but that sound includes a buzz that won't go away and I don't have time to shield its electronics... I'm too busy making noise. This, at least with the vol/tone knobs turned how I have them turned, doesn't buzz at all. I get clean sound in my amp and in Rocksmith.
Very happy with my new guitar.
I named her Sophia.

Ronald MalcolmRonald Malcolm: Let me begin by saying I'm not a bassist; in fact, I'm not even a great guitarist, but rather an enthusiast who likes to experiment in his home studio. That being said, I purchased this for myself so I could lay down some rudimentary bass lines to glue together some song ideas ahead of someone else doing the real work, so take my comments in that context.
I have to say, I LOVE this bass! As an owner of 3 other guitars, I CAN recognize good build quality and this certainly exemplifies that. There isn't a single blemish on this thing--it's shiny, slick and pretty. It's also SOLID, but not overly heavy. I'd guess it weighs about 7 or 8 freedom units (pounds) and its center of gravity is probably about the fourth fret from the end of the neck, so there's an ever so slight tendency for neck dive, but that's without the friction of a strap, just me holding it against my stomach and playing (yes, there is a carved comfort scoop).
As it arrived, it was ALMOST in tune; the strings feel nice, well-coated so they're smooth with no biting. The tuners seem to work and one thing that actually surprised me is that it appears to have a bone nut--it's gritty, off-white and carved...

Rick Richards: Purchased Bass as I am guitarist but fancied a go on 4 strings. Firstly I generally check reviews before purchasing and seeing a few positive reviews on YouTube I thought I would give this brand a try and I am quite shocked at how well this bass plays plus the extras you get. Firstly the bass is a nice weight not too heavy but not too light. Body has a deep sunburst finish which has been applied well. Maple neck with a wood similar to rosewood used for the fret board. Frets have been well dressed no buzzing or dead spots and fret ends have been nicely rounded off. Action was a little high but after lowering to my taste I had a play. I was impressed with the nice punchy tone this bass produces and how well it plays. The tone knob rolls off treble evenly which is nice to hear, usually on budget guitars you only have to touch the tone and the treble is gone in an instant. Nice quality gig bag which feels sturdy enough to protect the bass out and about and a decent jack lead and strap as well. I would honestly say I would be happy to gig with this bass. I would highly recommend this for a beginner or intermediate player really exceptional value and with a bit of a set up plays as good...

BGuy: Some reviewer claimed it was neck heavy. I found, it is NOT neck heavy, rather perfectly balanced whether on a strap, or on my knee. (My strap is leather though, and the body side is rather rough and grippy. So there is that factor)
I was reluctant when I read that "neck heavy" stuff, but glad I did not heed those words.
The Guitar IS on the heavy side, for sure though, (about 10 pounds.) So yes, compaired to a six string electric guitar it is heavier, and it's longer too. But it IS a standard full size electric BASS guitar, so, it is, what it is. Basses are bigger, heavier, and longer than six strings guitars, for sure. I am 6' and 190 lbs and no problem for me.
It's a fine instrument IMO. Well balanced. Just what I hoped it would be. I am having a lot of fun with it.
I have a little Fender, Frontman, 10G practice AMP ($80) and this bass just does not play so well on that, for me. I don't dare turn it up full blast on that little amp, for fear this bass might blow the speakers. This 10G works very well for my six string though. Nice and small. Sweet for 6 string guitars
A new FENDER BASS 40 AMP, that I ordered, arrived today though. ($200.). I DO like...

DealzzDealzz: Let’s face it, a lot of us want to try out a bass just so we can channel our inner Peter Hook. I’ve been playing electric guitar for a couple decades and figured I’d try a whole new perspective in music, and also get my daughter interested in bass. However, “Any bass will do” is perhaps not the best approach when acquiring one for occasional play. So I’d like to offer some of my opinions and advice.
First of all, the black version of this bass looks cool and its hardware is simple - no pickup switches, just a volume and tone control. Just plug in and play. It stays in tune, the strings seem decent too. It comes with almost everything to get started. It’s an amazing package which includes a decent gig bag, strap, cord and tools for fine tuning. You need to buy a bass amp separately, of course. Also you need a tuner and stiff guitar picks. Another thing I needed to buy was strap locks, because I nearly dropped the bass when the bottom of the strap gave out and slipped off. Fortunately I caught it in time. So the strap is not 100% safe. This bass is built like a tank and even weighs like one.
Now, if you are used to playing an electric guitar, especially a...

BrockBrock: The media could not be loaded. Summary: It’s worth it but only if you’re willing to invest time/money into a good setup and strings. This sounds better than anything below an American Fender. I also found the neck to feel broken in from the get go. The neck is pretty chunky though, it feels very similar to my Sterling Ray5 and I really dig that. It’s a great neck profile, for me. I also think style-wise the gold logo and engraved neck plate are pretty nice.
The trade off is if it’s like mine it will absolutely need a fret filing, and while the stock setup is actually passable, and pretty good with a slight truss rod tightening it could use a proper one. That said for the price of an Affinity Squier (which is just the bass, no accessories) you can get this Donner, which comes with a strap, gig bag, and cable then have it professionally set up with a good set of strings.
That is a way better option for a beginner or someone just wanting a bass laying around.
If you’re looking for a project bass, move along.
Quality: Is a mixed bag. My bathroom scale says this weighs 9.8lbs which for me is heavy but manageable. The body's finish is...
