Timur A.: I got this guitar a little under 11 months ago. The mechanical parts were almost perfect. I replaced the nut as it had a pretty bad defect in it. That's easy though, wasn't a big deal.
I had compared it to a real American $ 1200 USD Strat which I borrowed from a friend. After you play the real deal you get the difference. I must say I like the fretboard on mine better. The frets on American are tiny bit wider but on mine I find catching the strings, especially the first E easier. So the neck is just about perfect.
Now, the electronics compared to the real Mckoy sucked. And keep in mind, Chinese electronics starts giving up after about a year as a rule. I've had enough experience with different Chinese devices to know that.
So what I did, was to buy David Gilmore's DG20 pickboard and replaced the whole thing. It fits the same holes and is super easy to install.
Then I adjusted the bridge- the strings height and there you are -- my guitar sings like David Gilmore's.
The playability is perfect and the sound is fantastic!
In the end, I've spent about $550 (oh, I replaced the strings of corse too) and a few evenings but I have a really awesome instrument. All the...

Stormdog: The Affinity is every bit as good a guitar as the reviews say. It's very cheap, plays nicely and that's great in terms of what you are getting for the money. It really is a bargain. But at this price there are a few quality control issues. We took a couple of goes to get ours working properly. Jack point cable connection faulty, no wammy bar in the package, cracked pick-up nob. All these small issues sorted out with minimal fuss. But still; Annoying especially for a young pplayer excited to get her first electric guitar. In particular, check that the connection socket is working. We bought two of these guitars from different sources, and they both had the same fault. Nevertheless, it is still incredible value for money. But consider spending another £75-100 on the next model up, if you don't want to have any hassle.

GenericSethGenericSeth: I had high expectations for this guitar but when it arrived it was clear to see that there were a few problems with the setup. I’ve been playing for quite some time so I have some idea of what to look for.
1) Although there was no fret sprout, the fret edges felt a bit prickly, not in a discomforting way but the filing job could have been much better.
2) Way too much fret buzz. I understand you can’t completely eliminate it but there was more fret buzz than acceptable. I adjusted the truss rod back and forth by increments but that didn’t seem to help.
3) Fret-wire polish was inconsistent. Some frets were easy to bend while others were so bad that you could feel the strings being grated.
4) Overall design looks slightly different from what’s advertised. The picture shows two string trees but mine only had one. Tuning keys also looked different. The picture shows a vintage style bridge (but I won’t complain, I prefer the modern bridge). The picture shows an all-white pick guard but mine is white with a black outline.
5) Pick-up selector switch is too resistive and almost impossible to move with just a flick.

On a positive note, I love the feel of the...

Guitar freakGuitar freak: Decent Guitar, decent tone and for me the paint and style of this guitar is what I love the most. I like the HSS pick-up setup. For better playing experience you might wanna adjust the truss rod and the saddle. Sounds amazing when playing crunge and rock, decent clean tone. If you're a clean tone player you might wanna check some other guitars, but it not bad at all. Overall I'd say this is an amazing guitar at this price range. And don't forget that guitar amps play a great role at how the guitar sounds.

r4g3z: Well, this is my first guitar so honestly my only benchmarks are guitars plugged in small gigs by local bands at pubs / restaurants locally or couple of friends who have owned some other beginner models... And i think this guitar doesn't have any limitations that will prevent it from being stage worthy! Versatile HSS config, dirty if you want it and with 5 settings it can do a lot..

I have paired it with a Katana Mini and for home practice it's absolutely perfect!

Mr. Lin: There is so much I could say about this Squier by Fender Affinity Stratcocaster .. I had lots of guitar in my life this Squier really surprised me I look at lots of people playing talking about it on youtube and I read lots of comments that were said about it . Lots of expenses guitars I tried in stores and I couldn't play them the neck to sticky or to big .. I had a bad accident n in my younger days told I never would get my left arm to work again . I love playing guitar I have three guitars and love this Squier the neck movement on it is so good the strings set low and plays like a expense guitar and doesn't need no work on neck ok the tuners keys could do some work the tremor bar puts it out of tune easy but I never use one, so till I get use to it really can't say to much about it... I just love it Mr. Lin

Rabatavus: I bought this thinking of it as a base for modding. I was surprised by how well made this guitar is. I also have an american stand strat to compare too. You can clearly see that the neck maple on the fender is a better quality, but the one on the squier had a good hefty feel to it, same satin finish. I think I got lucky since the frets were perfectly leveled and fret ends were smooth. I was thinking about changing the neck but I'm definitely keeping it, the only thing I'll swap is the nut, since the nut slots seem to have an angle. They're not perfectly straight.
The tuners have a good feeling to them and seem so far to be stable. I'm still swapping these for locking tuners for added stability and ease of use(hipshot has a nice set which doesn't require drilling for 50 bucks)
I boyght the burst finish, you can cleaely see it's a 3 piece ash body, being an affinity the body is a bit thinner than the Am std, I can still feel the whole body vibrate nicely when hitting the strings.
The pickups are the weak link on this guitar. I'm changing these for a vintage hot noiseless pups for hum free tone.
All in all this guitar will come with its upgrades at less than 350, a real...

Edward R: I'm a beginner, playing a year now but playing 1++ hours/day. My brother gave me a Chinese LP, but it was just ok. I decided I wanted to experiment with surf music, and this was a cheap guitar with a whammy bar. I had low expectations, but wow is this a great value! I am mechanically inclined, so I did my own setup using internet sources. Very little setup required, minor neck relief, it was great out of the box.
The finish is beautiful, I could find no imperfections. I was able to set the action to 3/32", very low with no buzzing. The pickups were the only letdown, I still cant bring the lower string volume up to match the high strings to my liking, but it still sounds very good.
Two very important qualities of this Affinity Stratocaster that I like: 1:The neck (nut) width is short, I measured 1-5/8", which is great for people with small hands. 2: This guitar weighed in at 7.5 lbs, very light.
The whammy (tremolo/vibrato/whatever) bar works fine, and does not cause the guitar to go out of tune, at least playing surf music. If you go Eddie Van Halen on it, all bets off. My only criticism is that it attaches with coarse thread, so it wont stay where you leave it. I'm going...
