Annitra KangAnnitra Kang: The media could not be loaded. I was looking for a guitar that was just plain black, no crazy designs or anything, something simple that looked nice that I could use to start learning how to play, and this was a really good choice in my opinion! I cannot play it yet, but from looks alone, it is just a really cool thing to have in my room, and the bag that it came with was surprisingly comfortable when it came to carrying it around.

MJ: I've got a Fender American Strat, and a Swan S6 acoustic, but really wanted a Les Paul style but didn't know if I'd like it. I checked out some of the 'best cheap guitar' video reviews for some advice and ended up with the Donner. A few years back you couldn't get a guitar this good for $400, let alone $150. If you want a les Paul at a bargain price I think this is the one.

dna100: I decided at the age of, cough, fif, cough, ty, it was time to learn the guitar and after watching some reviews, I decided upon the Donner LP. Have to say, at the price, I am not disappointed, although I have had to tweak a few things.
Firstly, the intonation needed adjustment on the low E and D string to keep it in tune at higher frets. Not a big deal, easy to do.
There was buzz on the low E if played open or any fret, at anything more than extremely gentle. I couldn't fix with any small adjustment and the tone was a little dead compared to the other strings, so I decided to replace the strings with a set of extreme light Slinky's (8's). That did the trick, buzz gone. The 8's had the advantage of needing much less pressure from my baby-like soft fingers, so I'd have probably changed them anyway.
The final issue needed a bit more of an extreme fix but only required an hour and some conductive copper tape. There was a pretty loud buzz from the amp, which disappeared when I touch the cable jack/earth. So, it was back to a certain web-based video channel for answers. Ended up opening the cavity, undid the pots and jack, and lined the cavity and backplate with...

Adam Wells: Feels great once you rub some of the finish off the neck. After a set of EB 10’s and a set up, it plays great. Pups sound really good. The knobs work well but feel cheap and there’s not much tapir to the volume. The splitting feature doesn’t interest me nor will I use it. The pick guard will be replaced with a Gibson style because the original touches the body and I can see it rubbing through the finish in the future. Tuners are fine. Great guitar for the price.

chris kirschner: I love the build quality of the guitar. I love the pickups and the 9 ways they can be configured via the 3 way pickup selector and the single/dual coil switches. I love good music from every genre and this goes a long ways to enabling me to play all of it on one guitar. You couldn't find a better budget guitar.
One nit to pick though. The setup this guitar comes with is passing and just on the right side of "Meh". The pickups are set way too low. The action is a little high, but easily playable. I had a slight fret buzz on a couple frets. The intonation was spot on though. The strings are a little light for this style of guitar.
If you are a seasoned player that is used to setting intonation, tress rods, action, and leveling frets, then this guitar is a steal. After all, we tend to change the setup on every guitar we buy regardless. When you can do it yourself, you tend to be picky and highly specific on this things.
If you are a beginner player, then I suggest you go ahead and buy this guitar still. You save an easy $100 or more buying this guitar over the more recognized brands. You can get your guitar setup professionally to what you like once you have...

JDM: At first i thought i had a ringer with this beauty, but not long before i realized it just missed being that one special affordable guitar i had always wanted but was never able to find. Don't get me wrong though because i still am impressed with a lot about this guitar. It is one of the easiest guitars to play i have owned over the last 58 years i have been playing guitar. Action was fine out of the box and the neck which may seem bulky to many actually allows me to chord without my fat fingers touching and dulling out the next string over. I do love that wide flat neck shape. The guitar sounds very good and the pickups are great for such an inexpensive guitar. In fact everything was starting to look perfect when i first checked it out. Then i began to notice no matter how much i turned the tone knobs, not much changed in tone. The tone is fine but why even have tone knobs if they don't work or barely change tone? So, in all honesty i still really love the guitar, but they just missed having one of the great deals we sometimes (not often) find. I like the coil splitting but i would trade that for tone changes and the ability to turn the knob and hear some difference in tone. I...
