T_S_H1: Arrived on time, and in great packaging, no issues, no damage.
I'm just starting to delve into the content. But I'm pleased with the purchase and pricing.

marc-antoine: The mega dungeon is really cool it give good ideas and theres a lot of different things to do since you also have waterdep city over the dungeon. The only problem ? There not a lot of backstory to why the characters might want to explore undermontain. I felt like no one intellignet enough would go to undermountain if there was'nt a clear objective and the loot you can find in it is just boring as a story plot. If you are imaginative it can be one of the best campaign you ever did tough

Remy C: This is a great-quality copy of the Mad Mage campaign. If you are planning on running it, be prepared: This is a very large dungeon, and most battlemaps are not big enough for the bigger floors. If you do theatre of the mind, this won't be an issue. But you should either be ready to do a combination of computer and physical maps, TOTM and maps, just TOTM, or some other variation.
Also, this campaign can be very difficult. Some of my newer players definitely find themselves a bit challenged at times, but it is teaching them the mechanics very fast, and it is totally doable if they at least know the basic mechanics and some good strategies. Make sure you let newer players know that they are going into the deep end: after all, they might be making it all the way to level 20 which brings about many challenges, but very powerful mechanics to go along with them.
The only real weakness of this campaign is that the maps aren't as gorgeous as in some other DND Modules. They were clearly made on a computer. If you are using a battle map that you draw on, this is fine (and maybe even better!). But do know that if you go in expecting beautiful hand-drawn illustrations, that is not what...

Elan: Hack n’ Slash, yep
Dungeon crawl, yep
Deep storyline with clear reasons as to “why”?
nope. But that’s why we’re here.
In Dungeon of the Mad Mage, WotC have created a mindless romp, a palette cleanser if you will. It’s a great summer module, for the days when lots is going on in everyone’s life, and game night just needs to be a release. Save the deep campaigns for the winter, when everything else slows down and we tend to turn inward, right?
DotMM is a massive dungeon crawl with some truly bonkers monsters and crazy situations. The final fight may not be as epic as Tiamat, but it’s a challenge, and a satisfying end.
For what it is, it’s great. Players will face off against virtually the whole monster manual (give or take) of which you will need.
That said, the monster card sets were invaluable for this module. Easier to deal with for stats and table clutter. There is a great
two-fer set available on Amazon Canada at the moment. These proved to be a sanity saver, as flipping through the monster manual like crazy,l can make one… err.. crazy.
Buy it, try it, it’s fun.

Tony Calder: Many of the hardcover adventures released for 5th edition D&D by Wizards of the Coast have been based on adventures from earlier editions of the game and this is no different, being loosely based on the Ruins of Undermountain box sets from AD&D 2nd edition.
Essentially, this is a giant dungeon crawl, but the authors have taken care to make the levels sufficiently different from one another, and given the dungeon denizens a variety of different motivations, so that this doesn't turn into a giant 20+ level slug-fest. There is certainly the opportunity to play it that way, if the players and DM wish to do so, but diplomacy and guile can be used to succeed on many of the levels.
There is no single theme set throughout the dungeon, and it is explained throughout the adventure that this is a "living dungeon", where the denizens of various levels have changed over time. The whole dungeon is controlled, so a varying degree, by Halaster, rightly known as the Mad Mage, which also explains a lack of cohesion between the different levels.
The adventure is designed to take characters from level 5 through to level 20. As with most adventures for 5e, it's not easy to...

BW: I wanted to learn how to build dungeons and stock with them encounters. I do not just mean monsters to fight or traps to avoid but a full adventure. So I looked to the professionals of the "world's greatest roleplaying game" and picked up the mega-dungeon known as Undermountain.
This is a review for "Dungeon of the Mad Mage".
Wow, this module is versatile. The flexibility written into this mega-dungeon is amazing. I was expecting something that was a one-size-fits all sort of thing. You know, something like the modules that Adventure's League DMs run: the players arrive for X reason, and then Y happens. Let the players react and then tell them to do Z. This book isn't written like that at all. In fact, it is so flexible it is less of a pre-written adventure and more like a pre-written setting that includes set-piece events for a DM to use or adapt for their own adventure.
For instance, the first chapter provides adventure hooks for the party but acknowledges that players can have their own reasons for entering Undermountain. The players aren't locked into a particular quest or storyline. A DM could make up their own reason. This is an easy thing to do. I found...

Gustavo: Adorei este livro. É uma masmorra com mais de vinte andares de profundidade. Fácil de ler e memorizar pois cada andar é um capítulo. É também considerado a maior masmorra de D&D.
