Bonnie Levy: What a terrific book. So educational and fun for every age. Every Wednesday night we did a dinner from a different country where we’d say a few words in the language and learn a few facts, and maybe even watch a movie. I have gifted it to every family I know!

Amazon Customer: I bought this as a gift for my dad to inspire him to retire and go traveling! I haven't given it to him yet, but I have perused it. It's got great info and pictures. It's a real show piece you could keep out all the time

QueenAmazon: WOW! This is a mind-blowing book! First I tried reading the Kindle Version and could not...too small print. So I took a chance and ordered the Paperback hoping it would lighter to pick up and well-bound. IT IS! The pictures alone earn the price of the book. I wondered how they would “summarize” The USA in only 4 Photos and they did so very well. I’m proud to say The Brooklyn Bridge in my Hometown of NYC is one of the 4 pix! But in addition, I looked at all The Countries I have visited and they are spot on. This book is going to save me lots of money on plane tix...or maybe not? Hmmm...now where to visit NEXT? I’m going to order this book for all my friend’s birthdays!

Kurimura: The concept of this book is fantastic, but on several levels I thought it wasn't exactly what I wished they had compiled. Here are the pros and cons I found:
Pros:
- covers all the countries in the world and remote places (LP's advantage over all other travel guides)
- most photographs are stunning
- great quality of paper
- very affordable given its size and quality of print
- cultural section (books, music, food)
Cons:
- lots of cliches and unnecessary political comments aligned on mass media
- sometimes misses essential cultural knowledge (i.e.: Cambodia: no mention of the renowned classical Khmer dance that is as major as Angkor ; Ñanduti that is the pride of Paraguay is also forgotten)
- as usual with the LP, the booze-obsessed backpacker type seems to be the target reader (most suggested drinks are local brands of beer)
- inconsistent listing reflecting an obvious anglo-centric point of view and arbitrary decisions (i.e.: the UK is split in its 4 several countries while China's autonomous regions are kept within China, despite huge cultural differences with the mother nation ; Reunion island, a major tourist destination, is not...

An Avid Reader: Beautiful, large photos. Succinct, upbeat descriptions. Two large double pages for each country. Portrays each country in a most positive light. Makes for an excellent present. Obviously no mention of crime, poverty, pollution, violence, corrupt regimes - so the exact opposite of the way mainstream media likes to present the world. I do wish that apart from a small grey map of the country on each double page there also would be a global map pinpointing the exact location of each country. Even though I have traveled to more than 100 countries I was unable to point out the exact location of some of the newer countries. I had to remove one star because for me it is unforgivable to print a book that includes foreign words that are misspelled esp. when the word is "Wiener Schnitzel"!

Andrew Z: Since I got this book I really enjoy to have it in my hands in my spare time. The book is really nice, with amazing photos, interesting facts and useful information. I like advice about when to visit each country, also 'getting under the skin' section is great as allows really to understand and will help to experience each country and territory. The is nice map and flag shown at each entry. This is certainly one of the heaviest books you will ever get so don't expect to take it with you unless you drive to your holiday home and have plenty of space in your car.
So what are the minor flaws?
Well, unfortunately the book does not cover all the countries (or strictly speaking dependent territories) as it states on the cover. UK is not described as a one country but divided into Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England which is great as all of them have unique character but Channel Islands have been completely forgotten. Residents of St Helena, Faroe Islands and Isle of Man will be heartbroken as they don't feature anywhere in this book (Pitcairn with population of 65 has it's own entry which is fantastic). I disagree with authors that Aruba and Netherlands Antilles or...
