Huntnlady: Love this book! I was training a first-time beekeeper and we had to remove an Africanized queen. Needless to say, conditions were difficult with these "killer bees". The queen kept running and hiding, but on the last frame we both shouted at once when we spotted her. My trainee grabbed her in the queen clip.
The AHB queen was put in a bottle of alcohol, and a few days later the hive was re-queened successfully.

Nicole Fraker: I am a new beekeeper and this book is my favorite of all the books I have read so far!

DanG: I have been a beekeeper for 9 years. This little book is full of good information for the new beekeeper. The book is well written on queen spotting. The reason I bought it is the 48 full color photos of frames of bees challenging you to find the queen. Finding the queen on ten 8" x 16" frames of mostly angry bees is one of the hardest chores for any beekeeper. These 8" x 16" color photos of frames are extremely well done, accurate, and challenging. The only way to make it more realistic is to have all the bees start walking around the pages of the book. I would recommend this book to any beekeeper trying to find their queen on a hive full of bees. Good news, there are answers if you need to cheat. This author deserves credit for targeting an instructional beekeeping book at the one hardest task of beekeeping. Well done.

Carole Wageman: I bought this book since our neighbor is a bee-keeper and we plant pollinator-friendly plants as well as water sources to help out the hives. This book was simply a delight...easy to understand...fun to find the Queen bee embedded in detailed pictures of bees (kind of like Where's Waldo only with a Queen Bee)...lots of interesting and unique information about behavior of bees and their Queen. I have recommended it to our neighbor whose young grandson is getting into beekeeping himself. I gave a copy to my daughter who has always been afraid of bees in the hopes she will better understand them. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about these fascinating creatures and their way of life. It is really worth it! Well written. Pictures are stunning! Bees are amazing.

Amazon Customer: For all learner bee keepers. Queen bees are difficult to spot and this uses a 'Wheres Wally' approach to learning to recognise the Queen. The double page fold outs get progressively harder until you are an expert. Interspaced between picture foldouts are well presented factual articles with everything you need to know to help you understand bees

Amazon Customer: Honestly, if I could give this more stars, I would. As a beekeeper, I thought it would be a fun little book to have but I thought it would be mamby Pam you, it isn’t! There are lots of information and many photos that gradually get more challenging. I absolutely love the book and I am so glad I braved the price to get it!! I can’t wait to share it with my grandchildren (when I have some) and make a game of spotting the queen. I also plan to have it handy to show customers when we are back doing market sales again.

James HardimanJames Hardiman: I bought this book because learning to spot queens in a honey-bee colony is a useful skill if you've a bee keeper, and on the recommendation of Cedar Anderson of Flow Hive ... Hilary appears in one of the Flow Hive videos on YouTube.

But nothing prepared me for just how brilliant this book is! The photography and design is outstanding and Hilary's writing is wonderful. She explains everything at just the right level, neither talking down nor blinding with science, but a wonderful balance in between, and she conveys her passion and enthusiasm for everything to do with bees in her writing. The book only arrived about an hour ago: it's going to be difficult to put down!!

I won't bother to tell you all the facts of the book: you can read them elsewhere. I am 72 and a new beekeeper (three months as I write on 30th September 2020) and I love it, and I'm sure my grandson will love it when I buy it for him for his sixth birthday in three month's time. Thank you Hilary.

Sarah: There is absolutely nothing that I dislike about this book.

You can tell from the writing that the author is a sweet lady and is very knowledgeable. The photographs are beautiful and even with all the text, my 6.5 year old is transfixed with this book! We read it before bed and I find that the queen spotting fold outs are placed excellently - they break up the text blocks former! She's better at queen spotting than I!

If you are wanting a book with labeled bee photographs and in depth bee knowledge, add another book to your library. At first I was disappointed by the lack of that information - but then I realized that the book is all about the QUEEN bee..of course - hence the title! It centers around the Queen.

Excellent, excellent, excellent book! I just ordered another for my niece who is around 8.5 years old.

And it arrived in excellent condition and on time.

Seriously - this book is worth every cent!!!!

Apis mellifera: This book has lots of useful information for beekeepers but can also easily be read by anyone with an interest in bees, specifically the queen bee but it does give lots of information on the roles of workers and drones in relation to the queen bee. The queen spotting challenges get progressively harder and are useful to learn what to look out for when trying to find the queen in my own hives. The photos are stunning and I often find myself coming back to this book for both the beekeeping advice and the stories.
