Craig C in DC: We bought this along with two other travel books for an upcoming vacation to Portugal. Of the three we found this the most helpful. As a frequent traveler new to using Rick Steves guides, the one thing I'll mention that stood out to me is, while he covers better those areas of the country he recommends visiting, there is next to no coverage of other areas (e.g., like the northern parts of Portugal). But all in all, we found this book more helpful than the others.

T. A. Karlstad: I have used numerous Rick Steves guidebooks in my travels to Europe. My recent trip was my first time to Portugal and as expected, this guidebook was very helpful. Worth ever penny!

Masadoon: Great maps and metro maps. Easy, but a little out of date after Covid, still the best one of all the ones. I love that he recommends to take the book apart when using certain sections. It was well used and we left it behind for other travelers

Western Gal: I'm a big fan of Steves' books for the wealth of practical information they contain. I don't always agree with his opinions about the best places to visit. As an example, I believe that Porto is a "must see" rather than a "try hard to see" destination. And sometimes his sense of humour makes me cringe. But I generally appreciate his take on the places he chooses to cover. I do wish, though, that he offered broader geographic coverage in his Portugal book rather than just hitting the main spots. Still, a very worthwhile guidebook.

Char: Purchased this book prior to trip to Portugal. This was a really good reference for historic places to visit with concise histories. Found unusual places to visit off beaten path in this book too. Wonderful super clean friendly country.
