I must say I really like this mattress and I am happy with the quality for what I paid. I find it to be the perfect firmness, it's definitely on the firm side but has a nice comforting layer of foam on top to relieve pressure points. I am around 220 pounds so anyone around my weight I can attest to supreme comfort in any sleeping position. The removable cover is very nice and feels durable and comfortable as well. Edge support is actually pretty good and has a nice consistent feel all over. I like the level of sink and push back from the latex and foam layers, it's just right you don't sink in like quicksand memory foam but get great support and contouring to your body. It might not be the most ultra high end mattress ever made but it is also not a $2000 investment, It is however excellent quality and seems to me like it should last for several years and at this price I would be happy with that. Fair warning it is a big box and quite heavy so get some help moving it around and installing it. Shipping was also very quick like 2 days so that was great. Previous mattress: An expensive pocket coil mattress bought from a furniture store. It has a memory foam layer on top with microsprings. It was used for about seven years, but it was starting to sag in the middle. Also, I found the memory foam, while comfortable, caused me to overheat.

Five stars so far. The mattress is covered in plastic and rolled up inside the box. It is definitely a heavy lift, so have a friend nearby to help move the box. After cutting the plastic using the included cutter, the mattress took shape within minutes. I did not touch it for 48 hours to make sure it expanded fully, but honestly it looked ready within a few hours. I did not notice much of a smell. After 48 hours, it was time for a test sleep. I am going to be honest here - it didn't go well. I found the bed way too hard. However, the bed either softened up after the first night, or I learned to undo "bad habits" from sleeping on a saggy mattress, because the second sleep and all subsequent sleeps have been good. I replaced a very old, worn out, substandard mattress with this one, so bearing in mind that just about anything would have been an improvement, I have to say I'm completely satisfied with this mattress and not sure what could be better.
The latex foam has a little less give and sink, and a little more springiness than memory foam, so it has an overall firmer feel which is just what I was hoping for when I selected this one over the memory foam gel model. It still conforms to your body to a degree, but gives a little more support overall. To me it's incredibly comfortable, allowing me to fully and quickly relax my body. The proof is in the soundness of sleep I've gotten and also how quickly I'm able to get to sleep. I really didn't understand that a new, quality mattress would make this big of an impact, but I do now. I'm only sorry I didn't make this purchase sooner, as I had researched and decided on this one a few months ago. Spent almost a week researching memory foam bed-in-a-box mattresses and was a bit hesitant to purchase this one
but after thorough comparisons from all the others I finally decided to take the chance with LUCID, seemingly the best choice out of all the other ones out there (IMO). WOW - I'm super happy I took that chance !
- First off, the price is great for a hybrid mattress and shipping is ROCKET FUELED (ordered 18 May in pm - received 23 May noon through Canada Post regular shipping.) Overall package weighs around 50-60 lbs. so a helping hand could come in handy although I did it myself slowly (pic 1). Took it inside, opened it up and let it expand to its proper size.It was a quick process as I could've slept in it that same night but, out of consideration for proper expansion I did let it sit overnight.
- Secondly, NO CHEMICAL SMELLS OR GASSING ! That was really a + as all other reviewers of bed-in-a-box mattresses complain about that odor problem.What saves us here is because it's not a 100% memory foam but a hybrid so 50% coils + 50% memory foam thus lessening the odor factor in the making of the mattress since less foam.

The mattress is still going strong. I know it's been only 6 months, but with previous mattresses we've had over the years, none of them made it past the 6-month mark before showing wear. So I believe this is a good sign.
Original review: For the last year I've had insomnia due to my chronic pain from Lupus and because our old memory foam mattress apparently had amnesia. I spent over 30 hours ( spread out over several days) researching all kinds of mattresses, and everything one should know about them. I'm considering myself an expert now. Hehe. For our situation, based on everything that is out there, I decided we needed a latex and pocketed spring hybrid, which led me to two choices: this one and one on another website that cost $1700 and who's return policy was questionable. Or course we decided to try out this one. Funny and sad thing is that this was the first mattress that I saw in my research journey. I could have spared myself the 30+ hours of research.
