Karen: Love this. If you use arm and hammer clumping cat litter, look no further. Really sturdy too. Just perfect. My litter is so much cleaner. No bits left behind except the good stuff!

Wednesday’s Child: The screen has very small openings, but if you 'sift' the litter the ammonia-scented bits will be sorted out and then the box will STINK! I guess that is why Amazon stopped listing these as cat litter scoops and moved them to reptile supplies? I'm glad I found these before that happened, and I came back to buy another. Ordinary litter scoops just get the big clumps and leave the broken bits, which the cats then walk thru. This scooper may take a little clean litter with it, but what remains is completely fresh and unused so in the long run this saves money because I don't end up dumping out the entire box as often. Plus, the cats feet stay cleaner, meaning the whole house is cleaner. Priceless!

Peanut Gallery: I have had several of these. I usually replace them when they get too gunky. This one didn't even last a month before the mesh pulled away from the frame rendering it useless. Disappointed in the quality. Hope it was just a dud rather than declining quality.
Update:
I ordered another one hoping that I previously received a dud. No such luck. This one was mangled mess too. Already pulled away from the frame in places. I did discover that both scoops were bent and crushed from shipping. They were put in padded envelopes and shipped. Absolutely no protection from crushing whatsoever. I was desperate so my husband did the best he could to hammer in the mesh at the top of the basket but couldn't do much with the back toward the handle due to the way it is fabricated with the frame. So I am very careful about not loading too much in the basket or else this one will give out in the back by the handle. Using this until I can replace with something sturdier. Ugh, $30 for two scoops wasted. Amazon...please ship these in a box, not a padded envelope!!!

Rlw6585: Finally! A litter scoop that gets all of the tiny bits leftover after using the regular scoop. This works perfect. We've used another one from Amazon but it was plastic and the corner shape broke after a few months of use. This one is definitely better at sifting and seems like it will hold up. For reference, we use Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal and it flows right through the openings of this scoop. Try it, you will love it!

NB: We have three very large cats (siamese and ragdoll) and their litter boxes are usually mini-cleaned several times a day (twice minimum). There's always been difficulty getting the litter boxes fully clean though, with all the litter dry-- the clumps break up, pieces fall through the scoop and suddenly the box is less than pristine. As a result we would empty out our litter boxes completely twice a week just to make sure the cats had relatively clean boxes on a regular basis (without the stray damp little granules).

This scoop, however, is amazing. It takes a bit of patience to shake out the dry litter (the strainer holes are extremely small) but it's worth it for the result. The box is clean and dry; as clean as it would be in you just emptied it and filled it with fresh litter. We scoop several times a day, and every time the box is perfectly clean. I've reduced the complete-box-dumping to once a week now, although we might push to two weeks.

The scoop is also extremely sturdy-- no fear of breaking a handle while cleaning large, hefty clumps. For the cost, it's an amazing money saver. $20/week for kitty litter just got halved. That's worth it.

LYNN CRAWFORD: I use clay non-clumping litter, but most of the litter scoops on the market are for clumping litter so the slats are too large for clay. When I would try to scoop out the wet spots, the litter would just slide through the slats before I could get it into the trash bag. This scoop is made of steel mesh which makes it wonderful for getting the wet litter out of the box. Now I am able to get the litter box extremely clean. The only small con is that no clay litter falls through the mesh, so when I scoop out the solid waste, some clean litter goes with it. I minimize this problem by moving all of the solid waste to one corner and then scooping it all out at once being carefull to pick up the least amount of litter possible. Sometimes I just use my old wide slat scoop for the solid stuff. That being said, this is still my all time favorite litter scoop. I like it so much that I just ordered a second one for the litter box upstairs.
