EV Charger - MEGEAR Level 2, 240V, 16A, 25ft Cord Length

Darren Griffith: Charger was working well then started having some faults about a week ago, would reset it and it would then work again for a few days. Two days ago it then died altogether after smelling like burnt electronics. I have been in contact with the manufacturer and will update this review on their response and plan of action if any.

Update; the manufacturer did send me a replacement and so far it appears to be working fine.

Brandon on Tech: We rent so it's tough to come up with a good charging solution for our EV. This is way better than the 110 we were using before. We can charge overnight instead of over days. The only issue is we wish the cord was a little longer. The cord goes from the wall to a power brick that needs to be wall mounted. Then you have the length of the cord to the charger.

Jeffrey C. KleimanJeffrey C. Kleiman: I recently purchased a 2020 Kia Optima PHEV. The 120 V Level 1 charger that came with it took over 9 hours to charge it to get 28 miles of electric only range. I was looking for a way to upgrade to a level 2 charger. I live in a condo development, so the option for installing the fastest 32 amp charger did not really exist. Since I have a free 240 volt outlet behind my gas dryer, I bought this MEGEAR 16 amp charger with a NEMA 14-30 Plug that fit my dryer outlet. I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but it's working great. It charges the car to 100% in about 2.5 hrs, and if you run the battery down in the morning, you can still take it out later in the day after a full recharge. Since I had to pass the cord (which has plenty of length) from my laundry room to the garage, it was not great having to keep the door ajar, because the 100 degree heat here in the Phoenix desert makes for a very hot garage. I was able to use the Kebulldola 2 Gang Brush Wall Plate White 2 Pack, Double Gang Cable Management Kit for TV Coaxial, HDMI, Ethernet Cables, Speaker Wires and Power Cords Pass Through, found on Amazon and shown in my photo, to thread the cable through the wall. Nick Van Houten: I bought this EVSE to use an electric dryer outlet at an AirBnb. Please note this is ONLY a 16A hookup, not a 32A or 40A like you may have at home. This equates to 10 miles an hour with my ID4 (but your results may vary). If you're away from home and don't have access to a good public charging network (I'm currently staying outside of St George, UT) this is charging me overnight, as opposed to over a couple days. Can't beat the price for the specific need I have.

J. Balch/Aquaria Masters: Just as described, super easy to install, and operation of the charger. Worked as required, and was the exact plug type that I ordered. Charges quickly, and I am satisfied with my purchase. Works great on my 2013 Ford Focus Electric. This product saved me thousands over the recommended 220v Ford 48amp charger, as I would need to invest in major additional electrical work, and upgrade my panel to accommodate the Ford charger. This item plugs directly into my dryer connection, that saves me time, and extra money using what I have already. Made my purchase decision easy due to the total cord length of 25', as I needed every foot to reach my EV in it's preferred parking spot. Thank You.
