mwtravlr: Before ordering, I did the quick test (pliers shorting across the push button terminals) and determined I did NOT need the adapter. Once the unit came, it was a relatively quick install, even though I took extra time to dress the wiring for a really clean look. The app is straightforward and gives good information through the steps. It works only on 2.4Ghz. Because I have 5Ghz in home wifi and fiber into the home, I had to call our provider (MetroNet) and had them set my wifi at 2.4Ghz so I could set up the unit. Once it was sync'd it's been "golden". Even when we had an electrical power outage for a few hours, it started right up once the power was restored. The biggest benefit is the peace of mind knowing I can simply look at my phone and know the status of the garage door. No more calling my next door neighbor and asking him to look and see if I actually closed it. LOL

TheDarkAngel7: The media could not be loaded. I decided to get this device to help me with my forgetfulness if I were to accidentally leave the garage door open at night or if I were to accidentally leave my keys behind inside the house and lock myself out of the house.
I've given this device an overall score of 4/5 for several reasons:
Installation can be easy, or it can be not easy. I had a hard time because the supplies given were screws for the magnetic sensors to be mounted to the garage door. However, my garage door is made of the similar material refrigerators are made from so unless I used a power drill they weren't going to go in. The flip side is that because of the material, I can mount the sensor to the frame of the garage door and the free magnet to the garage door itself. I ended up finding that the gap in between the frame and the door was too wide for the magnets the device came with. However, because the sensor is magnetic, all you need for the bigger space is a stronger magnet such as a strong refrigerator magnet.
I have a two-car garage and the cord for the sensor was just long enough to reach the top of the frame you'll see in the video, I mounted...

Tanya Beach: I was wary of this when I first found it while searching Amazon. The price seemed too good to be true. I have bought inexpensive items in the past and was reminded of the saying, "You get what you pay for".
I ordered it anyway and it arrive in a day. Thank you, Amazon for the quick delivery as always. When I opened the package I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the packaging and included documentation. So many cheap items are very lacking in this area. The documentation was clear but very small so I did have to reach for my readers to get through most of it.
Installation was straight forward. Plan on about 45 - 60 minutes to install. Make sure you remove any cars from the garage as you will need to be around the door quite a bit with the door closed. If your car is in the garage you will not have any room to maneuver a ladder around. I was fortunate enough to have wiring already running from the terminals on the back of the garage door opener to the corner where I was going to place device. All I needed to do was to install the door position sensor, stick the base unit to the wall and plug it in.
After installing the hardware your next step is to...

Steven Brown: I have two garage doors and originally bought one to test it out. Installation instructions are good and it comes with all the hardware you need to install it. The tricky part is installing the sensors, because every house is different. I messed up and installed the wall sensor too close to the door while the door was closed, and the door ripped it off the first time, damaging it. I contacted support and they immediately responded and sent me a replacement sensor and cord. I installed it in a safer location and it works so well I bought a second unit for the other door. Now I can open the doors with my phone, get alerts when they open/close, and have the doors automatically close at night if I accidentally left them open.
