I bought one of these last year. It worked so well I bought two more this year!!! Shortly afterwards the one I bought last year stopped working. After some troubleshooting I discovered that if I tape the batteries in the holder just right it works great again (for a day or a few hours, until the tape loosens...).
Is there a place where I can buy a "Replacement Batter Holder", I think buying a new unit because the battery holder springs weakened is a bit much...
Anyway, I do love the product, but I need to be able to use it for more than a year...

Jason Thompson:
What did I like? Not much.
What did I not like:
1) Product design only allows you to trigger a pre-determined manual on time with an on/off button. To change the length of the time it runs on manual, you have to use the app.
2) Programming on the app isn't too bad. The app isn't too bad. But it only connects when it is within bluetooth range, and that requires me to go outside, at which point it'd be faster to use the older version with buttons on it. I can't use the app to turn it on or off from inside the house, which defeats the purpose of a smart timer. I still have to go outside and stand next to it, which is slower than going outside to press a button on the older "dumber" timers.
3) It stopped working the first season. Second season, the app says everything is working, but it doesn't actually open or close any hose timers. The app registers that it is trying, but nothing on the device moves. I ran it through the cleaning instructions on the online manual, but nothing works. It appears to be clean, free of rust and debris, with fresh batteries, and like I said...it responds as if it is working correctly on the app. Put on a different...

The Viking: Very nice timer! However, one of the zones was locked in the open position. The water ran all evening and all night until I noticed what had happened. I tried turning it off with the app but it's broken. I bought a cap at the hardware store to shut off the water coming from zone 4. Full disclosure: I bought it on Amazon Warehouse and it was used, but I bought it with the expectation that it worked fully. I got my lines ran and I'm only using one zone for now but I'll be hooking up at least one more zone in the next couple of days for some new plants. Other than the non working zone it's awesome and the phone app could not be easier. It comes on at exactly the right time. So I'm giving it 5 stars because the product is great; the person that sent it back: not so great.

The first thing that bothered me about this timer is that the app wants permissions to too many things on your phone. I can pass off location as needed for the clock that controls things, time zone type things. Everything else it wants access to seems a little intrusive and/or un-necessary to me anyway. Rather than being able to change a picture for each valve I think more functionality would be a better choice.
The app is OK, but not all that great. There is no way to skip a day, conveniently, for all zones if it rains. I guess that is a function of the moisture sensor options, but that's an option. Leaving out a skip button seems a little inconvenient to say the least.
My sports watch has better blue tooth than this thing. I can be 50 feet from my phone and the watch stays connected. I have to be within about six feet of the timer to get a reliable connection. Yes, I can control it from inside the house, but only if I'm at the window directly about the timer. Very weak in the blue tooth department.
The hose connectors seem a little on the softer side of plastics. Use caution when attaching the hoses. Cross threading will wreck...

Philip ZurcherPhilip Zurcher: My several year old Melnor 4-valve timers started leaking at the neck. No way to seal properly and I didn't want to waste water. Found these replacement ones that have angled outlets instead of 4 exits that are right next to each other. That was a bonus. These also have Bluetooth (BT) connectivity to smart phones and devices. This feature makes programing them super easy. My old ones were also easy to program but you have to go round and round to program and these are as easy as 1-2-3. The BT feature only works while close by. At my home only one outside spigot is "line of sight" so only one shows up normally. The other one is at the end of the garage and I have to stand right about 35" away before it shows up on the app. Other than that it is super easy to program and take photos of the controller to distinguish which one is which. This also goes for each valve. You can quickly take a photo from the area the sprinkler operates and save that so you can remember which valve operates what areas. Super Easy and helpful.
