The Rain Bird SST1200OUT Indoor/Outdoor Sprinkler/Irrigation Timer/Controller is the perfect solution for your in-ground sprinkler system. Rwd1953: This timer/controller is way cheaper than a comparable Irritrol, which has gone disfunctional twice now. (Granted I've had it for over 20 years.) Easy to set up and easy to use. One small disadvantage from the Irritrol is that it does not appear to allow you to set up groupings of valves that you want to run on the same day. You can still accomplish that, but would be easier to re-set day and start time once instead of separately for each valve. I've only had it operating for a couple weeks but everything good so far.

kcc: The product is easy to set up and is excellent value. The only drawback is the fragile design of the wire connections. The wires disconnect when jostled connecting other wires. A better connection method is suggested.

Bill Justman: Controller was very affordable and installed with little effort. Programming is a little more effort than it seems like it should have been. If I were to purchase again I would get a unit with wifi so I could use my phone or laptop to program and control. But, really, how often do you need to program your sprinkler controller?
One big tip, others complained about having to set the date and time for each zone. Then, if you change the length of time on a lower numbered zone, you had to manually change the start time for all the following zones. Not true. Set all the zones for the same exact start time and the zones will run sequentially regardless of watering time.
About 3 months in and everything works great. Would 100% purchase again.

Amazon Customer: I was going to give this 5 stars but I had an issue with it yesterday that it wouldn’t turn off a zone that had an issue until I turned off all zones. Otherwise it is a great value for 12 zone timer. The electrical connections are fussy but workable. The programming is straightforward but you need to push a lot of buttons to program 12 zones for two waterings per day.

cliff: This is a simple and easy to wire up and program unit. This Rainbird unit does not have Wifi capability, but I am very content without it. Simple to change program times and very intuitive. Once you set this Bird up, you will never have to look at instructions again. That simple.
