Garry S: Wanted to like these but they are very thin for a 2ply towel. they don't tear easily at the perforations so you end up with a 6" sheet and a raggedly torn half of another half sheet. We won't buy these again.
We'll go back to the Amazon brand commercial towels they're a little more expensive but a much better towel!

J. FuruglyasJ. Furuglyas: I usually buy Bounty Essentials paper towels and so I am comparing the 7th Generation paper towels to these. Both are a step-down version of a full thickness paper towel, and both come in the select-a-size option. The weight and thickness of each seems similar. The 7th Gen towels are embossed on only one side. The other side is flat. Bounty is embossed all the way through. In the 2nd pic I held them up to the light. The 7th Gen towels are a bit thicker. I then soaked up a bit of water with each. The Bounty wicked the water better. 7th Gen pushes the liquid around a bit more. Bounty is definitely more absorbent, but it's a small win. I sprayed some cleaner, and the 7th Gen towel did a good job.
Verdict: 7th Gen for being more eco-friendly. For my needs, a full size, full thickness paper towel is unnecessary most of the time. Bounty Essentials are perfect, and the 7th Gen seem to be as good for my purposes. As I go through the first roll, I may update this post. For now, I am satisfied with reducing my use of paper.

CyberCynthia: I like that it uses recycled materials, not bleached. Cost is ok. The sheets are a bit stiff, but I don't really mind.

Siward: These paper towels definitely do their job. I appreciate having more tear-off strips for half-width towels. Although Seventh Generation towels aren't the most absorbent paper towels I've ever used, they still do the job quite well, and don't fall apart when cleaning up spills. They're pricier than other options on Amazon, but I haven't found a better eco-friendly paper towel, regardless of price.
I used to use the massive Bounty quilted paper towels that absorb a ton of liquid for each towel. Once I started reading and thinking about my personal environmental impact, I started buying Seventh Generation paper towels. Although paper towels are rarely an environmentally friendly choice, they're still a necessity in life (at least for now...).
The fact is that Seventh Generation use at minimum, 50% post-consumer recycled content. Such a high amount of post-consumer recycled content is key.
Even now, a lot of products get to say "recycled" even though the post-consumer content is 10% or 20%. This is a really low bar for recycled materials, and Seventh Generation's high recycled content reinforces, to me, that other companies should be doing much better.

Urbana IL: While shopping for Seventh Generation bath tissue, I chose this item because of its lower unit cost. The Special Features describe the tissue as “Strong, Soft, Fragrances,” but it is definitely not soft and it has no fragrance. I question the word “Strong,” too. Think industrial, bulk-order quality. With that being said, I appreciate the use of recycled paper that was produced without bleach.
