Mel: I wouldn't say that I have very sensitive skin -- most back brushes are way too soft for my liking -- but I pulled one out of the plastic, ran my fingers over the bristles and thought, "There's no way that's going near my back!" Unfortunately, they're NON-RETURNABLE...I'm so accustomed to sellers on Amazon having generous return policies that I didn't check. Lesson learned. I guess I can use them to scrub the grout in my shower.

UPDATE: They do soften over time but it does take some time...

cmking: This is our 4th brush from this product line and it is perfect for exfoliating and increasing circulation. The brush seems a little stiff at first and may seem harsh on your skin, but it is exactly what we were looking for. We will buy this over and over again; the quality is very good. The brush lasts around 1 year.

Marilyn D: I use this in the shower with soap. Very rough, so scrub gently. Great for sloughing off dead skin and getting clean.

A.J. L.: I like these really scratchy to clean my back in the shower, and this is the best I've been able to find. The handle is slightly shorter than I'd prefer, but it's fine. I've found that boar bristles are just far too soft for me, and vegetable fiber is the only brush type scratchy enough.

I used to buy Bass brand, but they stopped making vegetable fiber brushes with attached handles. Bass's vegetable brushes all have detachable heads, which makes them annoying because they fall off. This one is great because it's made from a solid piece of wood and can never come apart.

rawtimes: Nice coating to retard moisture mold. nice choice for fiber. strong enough to use in the shower, and soft enough to use dry. both tuff and soothing. hook to hang dry. one piece flat. a workhorse, can take punishment and is cheap enough to be replaced often. great home bathroom brush or for brushing dried full body mud packs. good for mosquito and spider bites. not recommended for poison ivy or poison oak, but if you insist, then remember to throw it out. no shedding. arrived and stayed well groomed without getting matted down or frizzy. pretty enough to give as a present. i have lots of kent boars hair brushes, but this is a great second brush that gets a lot of use. good for baths. recommended.
