Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum: Powerful Cleaning for Pet Hair and More

R. Schroden: I'm writing this review to let you know the pitfalls that i have had with this vacuum and not all the positives. When this vacuum is working, i believe it to be an above average upright vacuum and is lighter than the previous dyson animal that i owned so that was a plus.

As mentioned in other reviews, the canister on this vacuum when pop off continuously when you pick it up to do stairs if you are like me and prefer to lift the vacuum to do a step as opposed to using the tangle free attachment which works ok but doesn't do nearly as good of a job. When you use the attachments, when the hose shrinks from the suction, it tends to pull the canister over and becomes an big issue the further away from the canister you get. A decent work around if you have large hands is to wrap your hand around where the canister pops off when you pick it up and hold it together manually.

Now after having it for exactly 3 years, where the motor attaches to the small beater bar broke so the small beater bar no longer spins. According to customer service, this can happen due to normal wear and tear and is not covered under the warranty. While it is just a small...

Kristopher Osgood: Okay, I read every single review on here before purchasing, and as of 1/16/2014 not one single reviewer who scored it less than 3 stars was actually a confirmed Amazon purchaser, so take that with a grain of salt, throw it on the floor and watch the Dyson suck it up.

I will try to touch base on most of the talking points here...

1. Assembly - I saw a couple reviews where people said they struggled. It took me less than 10 minutes to assemble, took longer to get it out of the box. The attachment holder is slightly tricky, but if you follow pictures you will get it. Although I will admit for 450 dollars Dyson could have written the instructions out to go along with the pictures.

2. Build Quality - I do agree that some of the parts do feel cheap due to the plastic materials. The construction is however solid and the machine doesn't rattle all over the place when you stand it up or put the handle down like some reviewers claim. I would have liked to at least seen a higher quality material used on the canister open/close as I have had these parts break on previous machines (not Dysons, but in general).

moodsformoderns: Let me first say, we have three cats and a new puppy. We primarily have hard floors in our home. We were in the market for a new vacuum. I have never been entirely happy with the typical vacuums you buy in the store that are at the lower, more "reasonable" prices. They never seemed to suck everything up from the hard or carpeted floors. I don't like vacuums with a ridiculous amount of attachments. I tend to lose them- or they fall off. We decided to invest in this vacuum based on praise from other family members who have owned a Dyson. This vacuum is AMAZING. It finds pet hair and dust and just sucks it up. There is nothing left behind. It easily moves from the hard floor to the carpet or rug, without skipping a beat. The ball is so easy to maneuver once you have a feel for it. The vaccum came with three attachments. All have been used multiple times for different things. The attachements are versatile and easy to use. The turbine pet tool is great on the stairs. I have even found myself using the attachements to remove the dust from furniture in the house. The container is easy to empty without having to dig inside and pull things out. I love...
