2 week review. I've used the Dyson several times since receiving it. It's amazing how much dirt and dust is coming out of our carpeting, that our previous vacuum was leaving behind.
Positives:
• Great suction
• Easy to maneuver
• Lots of attachments
• Long Cord - so less stopping to change outlets.
• Works well on bare floors
• Emptying the container is really easy with the push of a button.
Negatives:
• The wand that detaches from the back is a little difficult to remove, and awkward to use. It's very long and doesn't bend so I find myself vacuuming with it at difficult angles. Maybe I'm using it wrong. We'll see over time.
• The long cord is a positive, but it also can be a little difficult to manage. I've become tangled up in it a few times, but not a big deal.
• There a lot of attachments, but no place to store them on the vacuum. So you will have to retrieve whichever one you want to use when you need it.
• When you're finished using the vacuum, and you move the handle up to the upright position to store it, it doesn't always lock into place on the first try. When you pop it into place, it...

I had a shark navigator before purchasing this item. I really loved my shark at first, but over time it really started to lose suction. I cleaned the filters, but it didn't seem to help. I even bought new filters, but they only seemed to help for about a week (I vacuum daily). Finally I couldn't take it anymore. I have major allergies, carpet and a cat that I just learned I'm allergic too, and I'm not getting rid of her. Our house always felt dusty, even with daily dusting. I was desperate when I decided to buy the dyson.
This vacuum has been life changing. I know that sounds dramatic, but it truly has.
When it arrived I made sure to go through my whole house with my shark, just to see if it was all in my head. I spent a lot of time making sure I wasn't rushing over the floors. Then I put my new dyson together, and started vacuuming over the same floors. The container was literally full after the first pass. It was disgusting. After a month of cleaning the carpets , I've found that I'm dusting less often. The carpet literally feels warm after you vacuum an area, from the powerful suction. It's amazing, and I'm so happy with this purchase.

First the good. As a carpet sweeper/hardwood floor cleaner this vacuum excels. The suction power is tremendous. The bag free design is quite nice. It is easy to use for this purpose. If that is all you need out of a vacuum, buy it.
The bad, (very bad). The accessories that attach to the expandable hose are are fine but the expandable hose is a huge issue. The suction power of the vacuum is such that the expandable hose is always fighting to you when you try to use the attachments. Stretching the hose against the suction power of this vacuum is quite the workout. The hose is always trying to collapse when the vacuum is on. If the vacuum is off, you can stretch the hose quite easily. Turn it on and the war begins. It is a stupid design that needs to be re-thought. This could easily be a separate hose that doesn't stretch/collapse and plugs into a port when needed. You would lose the convenience of having everything onboard but it would actually be much more usable.
