George Strong: This is a well made valve. I have no problem with the valve itself, it is well made, however; because you cannot connect two dissimilar metals, there is a corrosive reaction when used with brass nozzles and hose connections.

Troy: Updated review - 2 years later: One died...if you read the original review I had to adjust the nut on one and I am not sure what happened but it didn't work quite as well as the other. I left it on the hose so long that I couldn't get it off when the hose died so I tossed it in the trash with the hose. The only negative I can think of is if you have a hose that has a larger than normal plastic grip around the end of the hose it may hit this. If that is the case an Underhill product may be a better choice. If you don't have that larger piece, this works perfectly. The angled arm on the Underhill works just the same, but it tends to grab a lot of grass and dirt and hang up on roots if you are trying to pull the tip to you versus walking over and picking it up. I would purchase these again.

Original Review: I use these shut off valves in my side business (I own a few of them) and they work well. One had a slight leak around the nut but a slight adjustment fixed it.

W. HigginsW. Higgins: UPDATE 8/20/17: So after over a year of use, I need to advise AGAINST the aluminum valve. See attached pix. Galvanic reactions made it impossible to remove from my brass ended hose without big wrenches. Additionally, the internal 'ball' appears corroded (but it is stainless, right?). I will reuse it on another hose, but I'm going to use Marine grade Never-Seez.

I bought both the aluminum and brass ones to compare. If you read nothing more: go for the aluminum. (NO! Don't do this!)
I was tired of the $3 to $10 disposable Chinese POS valves, and wanted to buy something with inherent quality and Made in America.
Found these Dramm ones on Amazon. Couldn't decide if I should get the Brass or Aluminum, so I got one of each to try. Yes, they are 2X to 4X the cost of Chinese parts, but they appear like they will last a lifetime. All parts appear to be serviceable. The ballcock rides on a nylon gasket. I don't know [yet] if he shaft is o-ringed, but there is another nylon gasket under the handle, and the unit does not leak at all, in any state. These things are sturdy. Q. T. Vo: I do a lot of gardening and I tend to switch accessories at the end of my water hose very often. Lately, I've seeded some grass and I was tired of going to the back on the house to shut the water down, come back to unscrew the water gun, put the sprinkler on and go back to the back of the house to open the water again.

With this valve, I don't have to do that anymore! But the most important aspect is that I DO NOT lose water pressure!

I've tried those connectors that you find in stores, the one where you can pull hard on it to take out the water gun or push back in and get all wet from the water that slips in between the two pieces when not entirely plugged in. The problem with these is that the hole is smaller in diameter, therefore lets less water pass through and the final result is that your sprinkler doesn't go as far to cover the lawn!

With the Dramm's valve, no such problem! It's also very easy to open and shut off!

Lastly, I was worried that when I shut it off, that there would still be some water leaking. I was worried for nothing, since it completely shuts off the water! No leak, therefore no mess or bad surprises in the morning!
