Schooleys: This thing is AWESOME! My children tend to get extraordinarily bad ear infections, but experience no pain until they are really bad off. This tool allows me to check their ears throughout a cold, to ensure we can provide antibiotics when necessary, without waiting too long. The instructions provide photos showing what to look for. Easy to use, great to have, and interesting as all get-out at a fabulous price!

arPie47: Wish I'd bought one of these eons ago. If you make an appointment for a hearing test and they can't see the eardrum because of wax, you have to get it removed before they can do the test. Then it can take weeks to get another appointment. The problem can be prevented by checking for wax and getting it removed, either with an OTC earwax removal kit or by a professional. This otoscope is easy to use and you can get a good focus. If you have trouble focusing, first check that you haven't smudged the lens. Then test it by looking at some small print through the otoscope. You will be able to figure out how the focus changes a great deal as you change your distance from the subject. If it doesn't focus with this method or you have to back out farther than the depth of an ear canal, you may need an eye test. The instructions that came with it and on their website are helpful, except the pictures of earwax made me a little uncertain. I googled earwax, and normally it would be yellowish to brown, but they're showing a black goo. Whatever it looks like, it needs to be out of their if it's interfering with hearing. If it's dark like what they show, probably removing it is a job for a pro...

Client d'Amazon: Léger lumineux et pratique. Par rapport aux commentaires négatifs que j'ai lus ci dessous: il permet de voir le tympan correctement, mais cela nécessite de suivre le conduit auditif, un petit coup de main est nécessaire. Bien sûr il n'est pas aussi robuste et pratique que le Heine (750€) que j'utilise tous les jours dans mon métier, mais pour regarder occasionnellement les oreilles des enfants il est tout à fait suffisant.
Par contre, je l'ai acheté 36,95€ il y a 2 ans, je me demande ce qui justifie de doubler le prix...?

Fernando: It is a good tool but it would have been nice for the manufacturer to include a diagram of what you are looking at(inner ear) with indicators and titles.

Julie Poole: Exactly as described, works great for looking for earwax in my 4 year old. I'm not sure I could tell if an ear is infected, although that was not the reason I purchased this, I just want to know if the oil drops are working to get rid of my child's ear wax.
