PrimeExample: The screw stub are hollow and break very easily. Don't over torque them, like I did. The thermometer works fine, though.

The Garage: I installedd this in the lid of an Old Smokey classic grill. It works great but I bought it because it's got a great retro look. Installation was a little tricky because I had to drill 3 holes instead of the usual 1. I didn't get them just right and ended up bending the probe when I tightened the nuts. I took it apart, enlarged the holes, straightened the probe, and put it back together. Save some time if you're using it this way and make the holes a little oversize to begin with. I checked the calibration and it was dead on out of the box. It works great and I think the oval shape and black background looks better most of these gauges.

Al VAl V: My grill thermometer gauge is a perfect replacement for the one that came with my GrillMaster, oval with slightly larger numbers. I had to calibrate mine since water doesn't boil under 200°. I preheated my Pyrex cup and tipped it to one side on trivets, so the gauge could rest on the side without falling in (see photo). The calibration turn screw is extremely sensitive, just a little nudge to the right (clockwise) brings the temp down, left turns it up. I went through several iterations before I got it on point between 200° and the 220° line. Since the back of the gauge is not sealed, it fogs up pretty easily (see photo) making it difficult to read. The shape of my GrillMaster hood makes it tough to install, not the fault of the gauge.

Update:
I added a picture with the dust cleaned off. I wanted to make sure it worked. Still holding up good after several uses.
Another update:
Still working great. Dawned on me that the old one was a bezel around it, so transferred the bezel. Back to original again.
