CaptainAJ: So, I saw this DOSMAMZ ferro rod fire starter tool and it reminded me of my Nanostriker XL sold by a certain company that I will not name, but that costs 4-5 times more than this product. Yes, this tool is made in China, but the ferro rods used by the company I will not name in their Nanostriker XL are also sourced from overseas. They just choose not to be transparent about it because technically they do not have to per FTC rules and regulations.

I reached out to this certain unnamed company to ask about their ferro rod sourcing and they were completely non-transparent and evasive to my questions. So, I continued to dig and I found out through another reputable source that has dealt extensively with the unnamed company that although they may legally claim “Made in America” on their items, the ferrocerium is indeed sourced foreign from overseas. In addition, there are no ferrocerium manufacturers within the United States. ALL ferrocerium is sourced from overseas, and the lion’s share from Jiangxi Metals Co. in Shanghai, China.

I have nothing against the unnamed company and their products, it’s just a shame that they choose not to be...

Amazon Customer: Finally ! a ferro rod that actually matches the description and does what it's supposed to do ! I had to go through several disappointments to find this one . Definitely a must buy item for the backpack !

WillA2013: This is a wonderfully adorable and usable tool, it works extremely well, with only one minor flaw which you can calculate for and avoid with a simple habit. Do not strike as some yt personalities show, and after each use test for wobble, if there is any wobble then unscrew and then reseat and screw rod back into handle. Also, would be really nice if parts kit were possible such as spare rod and a couple o rings and spare striker for a few bucks. Absolutely one of the best I’ve seen, and though it may require a bit more work (though I’ve heard the name brand also requires adjustments at times) it is a dependable tool.

Polock: The DOSMAMZ Waterproof Ferro Rod Fire Starter looks EXACTLY like the higher-priced options offered by the more recognized company, but this works just as well for a fraction of the cost. AND, you get replacement gaskets and a replacement MAG rod included. I played with mine as soon as it arrived; put it through the paces...its waterproof, works easily if the weather is damp, nice spark spread. Couldn't be happier. GREAT product!

223fmj: Works fine, but the ferro rod threads into the holder at an angle. It is solid and works, though. I’ve used it a couple of times to test it, and it’s a decent little backup fire starter that is easy to carry anywhere. I might buy more to throw in some kits, but I don’t know if I have much need for more small ferro rods in place of larger [easier to hold, throws bigger sparks, lasts longer] options.
