Elizabeth: I really love that this book covers all sorts of applications for beeswax. The only issue that I've found is it doesn't cover how to prepare the wax fresh or even how to prep the wax for making candles, which is one of the reasons I wanted this book. Still, it has a lot of useful information and great recipes!

Danielle Restaino: I love this purchase. I read almost the entire book in a couple hours. A nice easy read with easy recipes. I'm interested in making my own products out of beeswax, but I had no idea how much you could do with it until reading this book. I made my own candles using the recipes provided and they turned out great! If you're wanting to learn more about beekeeping you will need a different book, but it still gives quite a bit of detail. No complaints here!

SalukifeathersSalukifeathers: This book has been my introduction to many new crafting endeavors, including soapmaking. It was my focus for Christmas gifts this year, and you can see from the image that most of them came from this book. The book gives you the basics and more to make many different products and gives you enough information to craft the recipes, and understand why you're using these ingredients, going above and beyond just beeswax. The layout is very pleasing to read and follow.
The recipes are solid and you will get what you expect. My first soapmaking experience was the Honey and Beeswax cold process recipe, and I enjoyed it so much I did the hot process Honey, Oats, and Beeswax one yesterday. I'm hooked.
In the photo, I didn't label everything exactly as it was in the book after trying it out for myself. With a little research and YouTube I felt comfortable enough to alter some of the recipes to fit what I had on hand.
The section on home products part of the book (ornaments, batik, dipped leaves etc.) wasn't very useful to me at this time, but appreciate the insight into more ways to use beeswax.

Danie: This is such a great book! If you're into doing your own crafts and have been thinking of expanding to candles, soap and balms - this is the bEST Book to have. I love turning the page to a new craft because each product has beautiful imagery, easy to follow directions and thus far, the results have all been favorable. WHile there have surly been a few "pinterest fails" so-to-speak, As a neurotic jew, I love and appreciate the step-by-step directions as well as listing out the exact products. The #1 thing tht makes me quit a project is not having the right things prior to starting it. I've been hooked on essential oils and makign fun things with those products and this book was a natural fit for expanding my new found interest. I've never made anything with beeswax before - so be warned - if you're a newbie like me there are deffinitely some tools on some projects you will need to purchase prior to starting, so defiiteily make sure to look at ingredients. Fear not though, the book is so amazing it tells you if a recipe is for a beginner. When first starting, tht was extremely helpful. My friends and I have had so much fun making things. So far my personal favorite is the cracked...

Amazon Customer: Good book and I'm not a person who reads other than to learn or to get to the point. This has many recipes and craft ideas, I would recommend this to anyone with little to no knowledge of beeswax and its virtues to learn it. The only reason I didn't feel this deserved a 5 star rating is that many recipes use very... let's say, malevolent ingredients; for example, palm oil and olive pomace oil. Although neither are terrible, palm oil is often harvested in unsustainable ways and under slave or harsh labor conditions. Olive pomace oil is banned in Spain and many other nations due to the fact that it is just nearly impossible to get a valid grade of pomace oil. Italy seems to be the best place to get it but Italy is King when it comes to olive oil. Not really interested in importing ingredients myself.
That said, there are ways to walk around it and of course, practice makes perfect. Let the Internet be your guide, if anything, this book has pointed me in a bunch of great directions and gave me a ton of ideas; it's a great guide if you're a new aspiring "waxmaster". I really hope Petra Ahnert re-writes a more updated version with nearly impossible to get ingredients omitted or...

Dvorah: I love this book! I gave my first copy to a friend, so I had to buy a new one. I am a beekeeper so I really appreciate that the author is also a beekeeper. Great recipes for body care, which is what I purchased it for. Especially using propolis in body care. Great book!
