Joey: Dr. Hahn started life as a Catholic hater. Perhaps "hate" is too strong, but after reading this book, you'll see that it's a pretty accurate adjective. At the very least, he was strongly opposed to all things Catholic. This book is the story of a couple's path to find The original Church founded by Christ. It's easy to recommend this book to anyone exploring the Catholic faith. However, it is an EXCELLENT book to give to cradle-Catholics as well. I liken it to having a visitor come to your city, exploring it, and then telling you how amazing it is. You lived in your town. your whole life and forget that really IS amazing and seeing it through the eyes of another makes your remember why. Similarly, this book reinforces what we were supposed to have been taught, and then goes further into the Catholic faith from someone that absolutely did NOT want to become Catholic. The book should come with a warning to non-Catholics; Read at your own risk. If you don't feel a call to the faith after reading this, you might want to re-examine your own faith again. I have read it a number of times. I've also purchased and given away so many that I've lost count. It is a fast, enjoyable read. If...

D.R.More O'Ferrall: The book was a positive and easy read. I make clear fundamental faults in Calvinist thinking. Good to have the parallel stories of husband and wife as they struggled to find the truth in their Christian beliefs, which were grounded in Anti Roman Catholic Calvinist thought.

S.S.D.: In my 20's, I was trying to discerning whether I was being called to ordained ministry in the denomination I grew up in... or if I was being called to convert to the Catholic Church. My pastor recommended this book, and it was one of the best pieces of advice I received during my discernment process. The Hahn's journey is easy to read, informative, and engaging. I wish that there was a mini-version of this book available so that I could hand out copies any time someone looks at me with a baffled expression as they try to figure out why any reasonable person would choose to become a Catholic (this usually happens right after I mention that I didn't convert for marriage). It touched on so many things that I had been struggling with. It can be a lonely process to be one half of a couple choosing to convert, and it is definitely a lonely process when no one else around you is Catholic, so this book offered some comfort in the knowledge that I wasn't the only intelligent adult that had choosen to take a path rejected by most. It's a good read for folks that aren't remotely interested in becoming a Catholic themselves but want to understand why someone around them would want to. In...

Christian D. Orr: A motivational and inspiring account by a husband & wife couple who started off as rabid anti-Catholics who, through intellectual honesty and open-mindedness as well as spiritual inspiration and open hearts, made the faith journey to the staunch Catholic apologetics that they are now. Chockfull of quote worthy, highlight-worthy passages. A worthy companion piece to the works of Karl Keating and Patrick Madrid in providing the spiritual ammunition to defend one's Catholic faith against the non-stop and misguided accusations of so-called "Bible Christians." Dominus Vobiscum.
--p. 5: "Please understand, my ardent anti-Catholicism sprang from a zeal for God and a charitable desire to help Catholics be Christians. And it was the Catholics who could outdrink and outswear me before I became a Christian, so I knew how much help they needed." Haha.
--p. 10: "Kimberly means 'warrior maiden' in Gaelic." Och aye, lass, ye learn something new every day!
--p. 16: "For one thing, I learned that many so-called Bible Christians prefer to base their beliefs on feelings, without praying and thinking through Scripture."
--p. 21: "On September 31," say what?!?!...

Sharyn, Dunedin, New Zealand: I love the way this book is structured: with both Scott and Kimberley sharing the story of their journey into Catholicism. It is grittily real, about the massive transition from anti-Catholic Protestantism to Catholicism, and the challenges along that path. I found it very helpful and very encouraging to read.
