Janet Rethmann: Up until just recently I had an old mercury thermometer. I was not feeling well at all one day and knew I probably had a fever and pulled my mercury thermometer out to take my temperature. Lo and behold I took it but the mercury in the thermometer was so light I almost could not read it. I am still questioning the reading but believe it was 100 degrees. That was it - I needed a different type thermometer so went to searching on Amazon and this item is the one I decided on. I was tired of having to wait an hour after I ate or drank anything so I could obtain my temperature so that was my first stipulation and I wanted something that could measure my temperature quickly and this absolutely does the trick. What is great about this item is temperature can be measured either through your ear OR across your forehead - not in my mouth. I was sold and I am not looking back at all. No more mercury for me!

Robot Cowboy: Ok, I'll get the positives out of the way. the numbers are easy to read and the display isn't overly bright in dim lighting. As for the rest, the design of this device isn't the greatest.

> The removable cap was made harder to remove than it had to be. Also, it has the potential to break or even get lost. They could have easily made the probe retract or extend with a simple button slide. In short, the removable cap was just a really bad design choice.
> The probe (with the cap on) to measure temp on the head is always a degree less than the ear readings. ALWAYS. To correct for this, just remove the cap, THEN swipe on the forehead. 90% of the time, I got within 0.2 degrees difference between the forehead and ear. If you go to any doctor's office, that has the head swipe type of thermometers, the sensor is ALWAYS an open metal-tipped sensor and NEVER covered by a cap with a tiny opening for the probe.

mommynxtdoor: FAST AND ACCURATE! This thermometer is so easy to read and is very fast at providing an accurate temperature. I loved that the batteries are installed upon arrival and you can simply remove the battery pull tab and the thermometer is ready to go. This is so convenient when you are too sick to think and don't want the hassle of installing batteries. I compared this thermometer to several others that I have on hand and it provided an accurate temperature and was so easy to use. This will be my go-to thermometer from now on and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Pros: Fast, Easy to use, and Accurate. This thermometer scored a 5/5 in all of these areas for me.
Cons: The only con that I found was that I was uncertain on how to convert it to an ear thermometer. When you have a temp of 104 it becomes a little harder to think about these simple things. If you have this same issue too, all you do is pull the cap off. It would have just been nice to have an arrow or something to show this.

Spicy Lea: I would recommend this thermometer to any adult but especially parents. The packaging says you should watch a video to see how to properly use it, but it’s pretty self explanatory. For forehead, briefly press the head button while holding it up to your temple. Done! For ears, pull off the cap on the thermometer and then pull on your own ear like you are putting in an ear plug and press the ear button. Done! Super simple. It has color coding for your temperature, but I think that is not needed (I know how hot is considered to be a fever).I love that you don’t have to use disposable pointless ear guards to use. This also has easy-to-replace AAA batteries instead of the button type. I have ended up trashing the cheap type of thermometers once their batteries die because they were not worth replacing. This thermometer also has a nice storage case. It also has a memory for storing recent readings. It seems well built. I know what I am going to be buying next baby shower!
