David L.: I had bought a less expensive saw and it didn’t do much. I bit the bullet and paid extra for the dewalt. It is a much higher quality and so much better in every way. It is so light and the safety is easy to use with one hand. I pruned several large trees and it cut the through the branches without any issues, once on the ground it easily cut the branches into smaller 6’ sections to fit in the front end loader. I never even had to adjust the chain. I had read reviews about the bar oil leaking so I followed the recommendations and got an o-ring that easily took care of that problem!

ML: Great little saw, but not super powerful. Cuts through stuff, but takes longer than you might wish. I like that it’s not noisy (compared to a gas saw), and is relatively light.

That said, I really like it for dealing with small branches. It actually works better with something a bit larger than the smallest branches. More efficient for some tasks than loppers.

It can get jammed up if you’re working with smaller stuff, as twigs get stuck in the drive wheel. I have to clean that out periodically. It does go through chain oil pretty fast, but I’ll put up with that. I like not having to yank on a cord to start it.

Amazon Customer: Needed an electric chainsaw for small projects. This fit the bill perfectly. Some complain that it leaks oil if stored with oil in it. Of course it does, it’s a chainsaw. Every chainsaw I’ve ever owned, Stihl, huskavarna, etc all leak oil from the chain oilers. Either stir it on a tray or take 30sec to drain it. This saw works as expected. It’s plenty powerful for a 12” saw. V

Wade Walker: Long-story-short: read and follow the instructions carefully, and everything will work out great. This is not like a reciprocating saw where you can just pull it out, use it, and put it away without a second glance. It needs brake checking, monitoring of the oil level, and cleanup afterwards.

I'd been resisting buying a chainsaw for a long time, because of the noise and mess of the gas-powered ones my granddad always used. But I finally bought this one to cut up a bunch of fallen branches from Texas' recent ice storm, and it worked out very well for me.

Pros:
- It's small and quiet compared to a gas chainsaw
- It's light even with a 6Ah battery in it
- Battery life is pretty good. The 6Ah FlexVolt battery would last me 30-45 minutes on dense wood. A 2Ah battery like you'd use in a drill only lasts 10 minutes or less, so get the bigger one.

Cons:
- It needs a diaper for a day or so after you put it away, because maybe a spoonful of residual oil will slowly ooze out the bottom of the chain cover. This is assuming you followed the instructions and drained the oil tank after use. If you didn't, it'll presumably leak much more. Lots of one-star reviews...

Andre Gide: 3/27/22: ok, updated to five stars. This saw is awesome and there’s no way around it. Who cares about the oil leak. I think this saw edges out the Milwaukee - it’s just the perfect size I.e. lightweight, small, maneuverable, etc. I used it all day yesterday trimming up trees at my house, and last week we used it taking down a half dozen dead standing for firewood at my friends cabin. One 20V battery charge bucked up all six trees (10” deadstanding lodge pole pines) with a little more charge to spare. I can tell the quality of the saw is going to give it a long lifetime. I really don’t care about the leak; store it on its side, bring a small rag with you, and it’s really not an issue. I already had a 20v battery and so the saw by itself was just a no brainer at this price point.

The battery life and maneuverability of this saw is awesome. I can take down a couple trees for firewood while out camping and it does a quick and efficient job, and plenty of battery life. As you may have read from other reviews, it does leak oil. After doing a lot of research about this issue, it kind of is what it is.
