john: If you have one battery and one drill you need 2 batteries. I wish they had these when I was into woodworking heavy. I had the frill and one battery at the time so I went ahead a bought another battery and they last a long time. This one stays in the shed, heat and cold I change it out about twice a year. Use it most working on my fence. Keeps a charge a long time
