Ginger: This is a thought-provoking, action-packed guide to becoming your own mental architect. It's not a quick fix, but a blueprint for a lifelong project. Be warned that there is a lot of technical jargon, so some readers might need a dictionary handy. There are tons of practical exercises from journaling prompts to mental visualization techniques. It takes time and effort to fully adopt and implement the ideologies within this book but overall I'd recommend this book for anyone looking to do some unlearning and reshape their mind.

Bonus Points: For the bonus chapter on designing your "death room," a morbidly fascinating exploration of mortality and acceptance.

So, grab your metaphorical hard hat, open "Designing the Mind," and start building the best version of yourself, one mental brick at a time.

PingJockey: I don't know why a user wrote a lengthy review of this book just to bash it, the introduction clearly states what this book is about and the website is openly provided. I see nothing wrong with the book or the marketing, an "x for Dummies" book has more flashy marketing and no one complains. I suppose reading the full book description is too much for some, but that's probably why "tl;dr" was created.

I enjoyed the book, it builds on existing stoicism and has citations for nearly everything. It's nothing new if you're already familiar with stoicism, it has an interesting approach on how you can apply them in your thought process. I don't remember all the psych terms being dropped, but it's written in a way that you're not expected to. I did like the algorithm approach, though the diagrams probably look better in hard cover as I believe that has colors. It does a great job using stoicism to make you an independent thinker that's uninfluenced by group think or your own bias.

I did like the author intentionally trying to flare up my emotions, only to point out that my current emotional state is probably on fire and points out the reasons why. Nice.

Lori Paul: I read this book with the feeling I was being engaged by a good friend, and I find myself returning to it whenever I need an affirmation of my true north. As a vocal coach, I often use Designing the Mind as a reference source for students of all ages, as the content can be related to by humans at all levels of development. I recommend this book to those who struggle with depression and/or anxiety, as it provides insight for becoming less reactive, and more responsive when the going gets tough. Highly recommended!

Mr.Rezension: The author does a great job at giving an overview of all kinds of self-improvement or growth ways that actually have either modern science or ancient wisdom of great cultures as proof. The author clearly has had a deep dive into many thinkers, philosophies and other sources of great knowledge and wisdom. There is also some humor, quite a few illustrations and some ‚main takeaways‘ at the end of each chapter (which are in my estimate a bit too long). I will definitely recommend the book. J.A. Clayton: Beautiful work. I would like to say first that I did not read this book, this book read me very well. Not only did it read me it sharpened my understanding of my philosophical basis right down to breaking down Aristotle and Nietzsche to a few understandable and realistic principles that are realistic and understandably workable to anyone who reads them, and if understand as well as practice the principles, that makes it a whole other level of reality.

So, I can only give this humbly ideal advice about the book: If you are a beginner, read the book and practice the ideas for a few months and see if your life does not improve (I have been doing this in some genuine form since I was about three or four years old in a disciplined way reading, honing and understanding my reality and doing what I need to do growth-wise).

If you are intermediate or advanced, see if this work does not harmonize fully with your understanding (it does for me).

Indeed, the mind is the most malleable, and growth worthy things if used and understood properly. Yet, when you use your mind properly, the only limit on reality is the structure of reality and its function as...
