I love it, it works very well, the set up is fairly easy, all is automated.
One disappointment though, the FM would not work while using the interior antenna that was provided. It does not work as it does not fit the connector at the back of the unit. I had to buy a FM Male "F" connector, a connector for connecting to receivers coaxial 75ohm antenna input. Same connector as you would find on cable cord to connect to cable box or to television.
And now all is good. But for this price range, that should not happen.

John P.:
Up until now, my favorite AV Receiver was the Sony STR-DN1040.
That receiver had excellent sound and features at the time.
Unfortunately, the Sony did not have the 4k/HDR pass-through that I needed when I upgraded my TV to an LG OLED.
Originally, I had upgraded to the Sony STR-DN1080 which had the 4k pass-through I was looking for, and I figured since the 1040 which was 4 years older had great sound, the 1080 would too.
Wrong - at least for me. The punch wasn't there, and there were HDMI handshake issues that I just couldn't get past.
I returned the 1080 and saw this Denon came highly recommended, and was $899 - down from the original $1500.
While it was a bit out of my range, I needed to complete my home theater and this fit the ticket.
After using it for a good month or so, I can honestly say this was a fantastic upgrade.
The sound is excellent, the features are numerous, and the on-screen display is even better than the Sony (which has a highly rated GUI).
This receiver perfectly passes 4k/HDR to my TV - and it looks and sounds FANTASTIC.
I am very happy with the Denon 4400H - and I would highly recommend this...

The Denon AVR-X4400H AV receiver was purchased for my home theater to upgrade my sound system--and yes, it did the trick!
I was previously a Pioneer Elite loyalist and when I noticed that the latest receiver from Pioneer did not offer that many new features, I considered Denon with its solid brand loyalty. Connected to Klipsch Premier speakers, the Denon really delivered lifelike movie sound.
One of the key features that I considered was that the receiver should show the active sound format being processed directly on the display for verification. Pioneer did that as well, but you need to press the INFO button to display it.
The key benefit of the AVR-X4400H is that it produces absolute crystal-clear sound, especially from dialogue on movie soundtracks.
The only real negative is that this receiver does get hot, as other reviewers have noted. But by placing the receiver on a ventilated rack or in a non-confining location eliminates this concern.
Besides the features of the Denon that attracted me, the price was also a prime factor. The MSRP of this receiver when introduced was $1599, a price I would not have considered. ...

Rohit Sharma: I have owned Denon receiver in the past, but this one is a fundamentally different amp in a good way. It's capable of driving my speakers with great energy however what sets this amp apart is the amount of subtlety it brings to quieter scenes. It's reasonably warm sounding so it wouldn't sound harsh at high volumes too. Interestingly I isn't getting very hot too which is a common feedback across reviews. Features wise, it covers a lot of ground. eARC update is available now and needs a firmware update. DTS virtual x isn't available yet. ARC and other device integrations works like a charm. At $899 it's a great value for money. Am using it with my q acoustics 3050i Cinema pack speakers and result is a balanced yet exciting sounds.

Ed Matthews: Good amplifier. I only wish there was a paper manual with it, and that they had more information about heos speakers.

Rob B: Loving the upgrade to HDMI and Dolby Atmos. Nice to have the option of going to 4 ceiling speakers for future expansion. Overall decent sound and easy to setup. Toss up between this and the Marantz. I'm guessing the use of fan ventilation vice brute heat sinks helped to cut the cost.

Excellent Reciever.
Don't listen to the guy about the remote control problem. I don't even use mine. I just put it away and save it for if I want to sell my receiver. I bought a Logitech Harmony 650, and there are better remotes than that from Logitech. It works fine. It's all I need. And you can program any key because it is a learning remote as well. You just have to remember what key is what. It's not hard.
The receiver is very good. I upgraded from a Denon AVR 3311Ci... glad I did. Sounds several times better in quality and compliments my Energy Reference connoisseur RC 30 speakers.
I recommend it when it is on sale. I bought it around black Friday at a very good price. Not that it isn't worth it at full price.

Mancave Central: I was a Pioneer Elite guy years ago till I had nothing but trouble with their receivers. I dropped them to try out Denon and it was like seeing and hearing for the first time. I replaced an older Denon model with this unit for it's 4K/60 pass through and Dolby Atmos/DTS:X support. Gaming is fantastic and of course UHD content passed through to the TV is pristine. I haven't had a single issue with this AVR. Not only does it excel at those features it provide direct decoding of audiophile formats such as DSD through the HEOS app. It's the primary AVR in my 9 channel media room with an Xbox Series X, PS5 and PC. All play and sound great with lag free 4K/60 gaming. Highly recommended but naturally, you will end up with a newer model with more advanced features since this has been discontinued. If you can still find one at a bargain price, jump on it.
