Delicious Freshly-Made Marble Chocolate Halva, Approximately 1 Pound Loaf

Deborah L. Dambrosi: It's all good, marvelous taste. A nice crunch to it. The chocolate is fantastic. You can't eat it all at once. Take your time and enjoy it, this is a nice size piece of halva. I keep it in the fridge, it makes it very refreshing.

TMann: Rich Chocolate dabbed on a nice swirl halvah. Retains a slight grit in a very smooth consistency.
Appropriately sweet with more than a hint of the sesame nuttiness.
Simply cut and wrapped, could be a bit upgraded.

Ethan D Van Vorst: My folks are really hard to gift shop for. My dad has a stack of gifts in a giant pile somewhere in his room which we refer to as the "Graveyard of Forgotten Gifts", where gifts still in their original packaging, accumulated over many years, stay until the end of the world. My mom isn't much easier to shop for. The house is small though and she doesn't have room to keep many material possessions, so I concocted a scheme to put together a variety of foodstuffs and comestibles that she would enjoy and that would likewise avoid adding to the already considerable quantity of stuff my folks already have. My mom was raised in Brooklyn in the 30's and 40's, and with that borough's well-established multi-ethnic background she has acquired a taste for a wide variety of foods from different cultures. Knowing of her love of traditional Jewish fare I opted to sneak in some halvah in addition to some choice cheeses and deli meats.

My initial response upon getting the package in the mail and opening it was to be a tad bit disconcerted because it arrived not in a professionally sealed package but rather in a clear plastic bag, sort of like one might buy a slice of cake or a brownie from a...

Mike: I have purchased halva from this company in the past and have received delicious halva on those occasions. Additionally, because we were happy with the product, the amount of halva we ordered progressively increased until we purchased 5 pounds.

Unfortunately, on our latest order of 2 pounds, upon opening the package, we discovered that the halva appeared to have somewhat of a pungent odor. We then tasted the halva and immediately found it to have a rotten taste. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that the halva had possibly come in contact with moisture or that the halva sent was dated. I began the inquiry process and explained the incident with Parthenon foods. I was shocked and dismayed when they sent me the following reply (verbatim):

"Hello,
We are sorry, but this item is not old and very fresh. Are you referring to the package being a little oily, which would be normal? Halva is not perishable and can not be "rotten" This product is very fresh and perfect to consume.
Sincerely,
ParthenonFoods.com"

I laughed out loud due to their statement, "this item is not old and very fresh", which essentially admits their item is not very fresh! Pretty funny...
