Slavie: Machine is good, but 10 months in, the ejector for the infuser broke off.. so now it's going to be on its way back to delonghi to get fixed..

Thankfully it has a 2 year parts and labour warranty, but we will see how it is when it comes back..

mike h.: We had been using a french press for years, but this was getting to be to much of a hassle and time consuming to make coffee with everything else in our lives...kids / work. Bought this amazing, life changing machine for ourselves as a x-mas gift and couldn't be happier. Supper easy to set-up, push a couple of buttons and you have an hot, delicious cup of coffee in less than a minute! Made my first Latte today, also amazing and easy. Couldn't be happier. It's a little pricy, but if you break it down per use or the savings on Starbucks, it's not that bad.

Opted for this over the Philips, which also seems great, but that model is HUGE on my counter and this one seems to have a better design. I would write more, but I need to go make a latte.

Jake LetkemanJake Letkeman: So, the first one we ordered had a power switch that wouldn't stay engaged and we had to hold it in to test the machine. I liked it enough to return it and reorder a second one which has no issues. The machine has been working great. It heats up quickly and makes great coffee. I have the grind setting set on 3 which is fine, but not too fine since I already know from previous espresso machines that too fine a grind will prevent water to flow through. The default temperature is perfect for me, but apparently you can adjust this if you want hotter or cooler coffee. The amount of beans ground per serving can also be adjusted according to your preference. Heating between cups is super quick - by the time you get the next cup on the machine, it's ready to brew again. The steam wand also dispenses hot water for americanos. I don't use it to steam milk much, but if I did I might wish it was a bit more versatile. It will swivel left and right, but it's tucked fairly close to the machine, so maybe not too comfortable if you steam a lot of milk.
I used to use a Keurig in the mornings because it made my morning routine so quick and simple, but I've retired it now because this machine...

Dana: I had a gaggia fully automatic espresso machine before. Loved it!!!! Until it died after 11 years. I reordered the same model and when I received it, it was USED! The paper in the box said it may have grounds in it due t testing - okay... but what about the worn button??? I was disgusted that they tried to resell a used machine and pass it off as new. Anyways, I digress. So, after returning the machine, I ordered this one. Sometimes things happen in life so you can experience better things. This is a great machine!!!! From first impressions (the packaging) I knew this was a superior product. It was not placed inside another huge box. It was a box that was slipped OVER the box of the manufacturer! No need for extra extra packaging in a gigantic box. That impressed me.
Coffee: comes out way hotter than the gaggia. Myself, I brew regular coffee in my machine, not espresso. That being said, I have yet to find the setting to brew a full cup of coffee. First world problems.
To empty the used pucks is easy to empty and it reminds you to also empty the water tray as it comes out all together. A bonus for people that forget to empty the tray and then it overflows all over the...

DM: First unit made delicious coffee...when it worked. The main power switch would turn off by itself - it’s a toggle switch which would not stay depressed in the on position. Also, coffee leaked out of the top structure of the nozzle. Returned the unit to Delonghi, and waited over 2 weeks to receive a replacement unit! I was told that because it was around the holidays, my “order” had to “get in line” with all the others and that “it’s not in their wheelhouse” to try to expedite it at all. When I still hadn’t received a replacement unit at the two week mark, I called and was told that somehow my order got “stuck” in their system and should’ve went out the week before! They sent a pair of DIRTY cappuccino glasses to make up for it. Got the second unit, and it had its own set of issues as well. No matter the settings, the coffee tasted burnt! It was not even drinkable. AND, even though I had it on the hottest temperature setting, the coffee was hardly hot. I was surprised at all the 5-star reviews, but then after a closer look you’ll see that nearly all of them received the product for free. Hmmm...

RobertinHoustonRobertinHouston: This is a good, lower cost, bean-to-cup machine that is a great choice if you do not make a lot of milk-based drinks (if you do, look to upgrade to a machine with integrated milk dispenser). It suffers from having counter-intuitive controls for the more complex functions and no digital read-out to provide instructions. You will need to have your manual handy to make adjustments or manage cleaning cycles.

Update after three years: First, it is still going strong, absolutely zero problems after 40 months and roughly 6,000 cups. I noticed this is now around two-hundred dollars less than what we paid on the cyber monday sale! All-in-all I need to bump it to a five star review. The little annoyances re the manual etc. are just no big deal. Coffee is excellent and it has proven to be a reliable friend each morning!

Longer, two part review: 1) vs the k-cup machines 2) vs other superautos

Vs the Keurig
If you are one of those people who still use the antiquated k-cup style machines, just stop. This machine is a great alternative that will give you better coffee, save you at least $1,000 over its lifetime, and save the environment from you dumping 10,000 useless...

The WestleysThe Westleys: The media could not be loaded.  I usually use pod style coffee machines, so this was quite a different experience for me. I have to say that while this machine is very good, I definitely prefer the no-fuss, no muss experience of a pod machine, but of course this also saves you money on coffee in the long run and you can totally customise your coffee experience. This machine would be right for someone who drinks a lot of espresso and iced coffees, who wants a fully customised experience with the ability to go directly from bean to cup, or to use ground coffee when needed.

Setup and care
------------------------------

One reason for me to take a star from this machine is my personal preference for a simpler coffee machine. When it comes to setup, unpacking and understanding this machine, it ain’t easy. My partner said ‘The point of paying more is to have an easier experience’ and I have to agree with him. While those who are used to complex machines like this one, will have no issues, if you’re switching from a pod style, or more basic machine, you might struggle a bit to begin with.

It’s not the machine...
