Lyn P: Love it!!! Cooked 6 extra-large eggs to a perfect doneness for hard boiled, beautifully fully-cooked centers and tender throughout. Mashed with a little butter, they were quite yummy! I will be cooking eggs for egg salad as tomorrow's breakfast when I get home.
I bought this several months ago, wanted hard-boiled eggs this past weekend without the waiting for water to boil etcetera and noticed it sitting unopened tucked in a corner. This is what I got and how I used it: the base unit (plugs in), the ring for holding the eggs, a bowl for making scrambled eggs, the water measuring cup with egg piercer, and the clear dome-like top. The measuring cup has marks for the doneness: soft, medium, hard. I added a bit more water for my 6 extra-large eggs. Buzzer is loud (sounds when water has boiled away. I immediately took the domed lid off (it has a short handle at the top) when the buzzer sounded & unplugged the unit. Waited a few mins, turned on the cold water, grabbed an egg, held it under the cold water briefly, cracked the fat end (with the puncture hole), and started peeling. It peeled perfectly...as did the other 5; no more wasted egg down the sink...hooray! The water had...

Sierrawine: On our third try we got this just right! We have chickens so we have plenty of eggs to experiment with. We used fresh eggs because it's nice not to have to track how old eggs are and if they're ready to boil (older eggs are easier to peel BY FAR). The first time we used the cup to measure for 7 eggs and used the medium setting. The yolks were not done enough (for us - we both grew up with yellow fluffy yolks, not dark yellow, not runny at all so that's how we like them). The second time we used the hard boiled setting with the measure for 7 eggs and it was better but not by much - still a little too soft in the middle. The third time we used 7 eggs and used the water mark for FOUR eggs on the hard-boiled scale. THESE WERE PERFECT - absolutely delicious! They were not perfect to peel (i.e. If you're making deviled eggs you might still consider using older eggs) but they were quite easy - especially in comparison to the usual method of boiling - we've found that fresh eggs (some of these came right from the coop that day!) are nearly impossible to peel, take forever and are not worth the frustration. With this they were easy enough to peel and just a little loss of some whites as we...

BoldlyGoingNowhere: I have had this cooker for a year. I have had no issues with water boiling out or soft yolks. I do use the marks on the included cup even though its counterintuitive that you use less water for more eggs. I am at 800 feet above sea level, higher altitudes may have to adjust the amount of water.
The little white pan is the perfect size to poach an egg for a breakfast sandwich. Make sure to spray with oil first.
There have been comments about the buzzer being too loud. I dont know what they expect. Its about the same volume as an electric razor (sort of what it sounds like) and I can not hear it in the bedroom that is off the kitchen with the door open. I guess if you are in a studio apt it could be a problem.
If you let it buzz for too long eventually it will cool down enough to start heating up again which will make it stop buzzing until it gets too hot again. The unit does not turn off until you switch it off. Dont leave it unattended for longer than a few minutes (like taking a shower).
It has worked reliably. The buzzer still works. I do soak it with vinegar every few weeks. We have very hard water and it gets gunked up quickly. If you leave it with...
