I prefer it to the microwave or stove for simple things like ramen noodles. The strainer lid is great. It does not simmer—the element is either on or off—but it will heat up a can of soup in no time. The downside is the very short cord, only 33 inches. If the outlet to the left of the pot, you have to turn it around to see the dial, which takes up even more of the cord. It has to be used very close to the outlet, which isn't always convenient. If they made the cord at least a foot longer and added true temperature control it would be an excellent hot pot.

Linda R Cox: During the month since buying it, this hot pot has been serving us well with its multiple functions, portability, size, and cheerful red color. We do not have a full kitchen and rely on small electric appliances for food preparation. A good addition to our space. The only disappointment is that it came with a stained hot plate--a stain like that of calcium build-up. Per product instructions, I washed it with soapy water before using it for the first time--the stain remained. Soaking it in white vinegar removed the stain initially but only momentarily. After each use and cleaning, I keep the plate dry with no water build-up. The stain doesn't diminish the use of the hot pot but rather it gives a dirty, unclean look to the appliance.

TJB63: First off, this cost less then $20 on Amazon, so my one exception is really irrelevant, but still worth mentioning in case the manufacturer cares to make a minor improvement.
This unit does what it says it will do, and yes, it really does boil water in under 4 minutes. it's fantastic for cooking everything from Ramen to frozen vegetables, it would definitely be well suited for Dorms, RV's, a small business owner that may want to cook lunch in the back etc... you're only limited by your imagination.
There's not a whole lot to say about the operation, add ingredients, turn on and cook, If you are doing Rice or Noodles or really anything for that matter, it's best to stir frequently to keep the ingredients from sticking and burning, it is basically a HOT Plate after all, it's not something you dump your food in the pot, set to high and walk away for 30 minutes and expect to have cooked food upon your return, if you want that, take up Sous Vide.
My one compliant is the cord, I believe it was even advertised as 'Detachable' - It's NOT, but not a big deal, however, they should move it 180 degrees from where it is currently attached, which is directly under the...

robert peters: I work nights and don't want to wake the others living here. I can make instant noodles in my room without waking anyone.

T. Benedict: It is a great little pot, but I’m replacing it because:
1) I want a detachable cord. Having the cord wrapped around it sitting on the counter all the time is messy
2) I can only use it for boiling because trying to cook food in it, it sticks to the stainless heat plate inside
3) The spout, tho nice for pouring off water, also is a portal for boiling water to spit out. If I’m cooking a bit of pasta or tortellini, I turn it around and put the spout over the sink so it can spit hot water out there. But that means it loses water and I usually have to pour some boiling water back in it to top it off again. Rinse, lather, repeat.
4) I’m finding that 1.2l is just too small for two people. It’s fine for making a package of Ramen, but if I want to make a side dish of penne pasta for two, it’s pushing it. I’m not criticizing the pot for that. The size is what it is. But for our needs, a little bit bigger would be better. I’m going to buy one of the 1.6 l. (2 l would be perfect, but I don’t see any. They seem to jump up from around 1.6 to big pots.)
But if you just want a small Ramen pot and don’t care about the cord, it’s a great little thing and I do...

Gingette: I like using this to cook pasta instead of using my stove. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because sometimes it shuts off before it boils, and I have to turn it back on - even though there's no timer.

Karen L: I used this on a recent trip to the Caribbean to make food for my daughter. I was able to cook stews, make quinoa and boil water for tea. If you make food that has spices or a strong flavour, the smell stays in the pot. I used a wedge of lemon and let it soak while it wasnt in use to get the smell out. It worked great. Food does get into the round ring, however if after cooking you let it soak with a bit of water, the left over food comes out. I found it easy to clean and light to travel with.

Star_DancerStar_Dancer: I initially loved this pot, purchased October 2018. Now, it is leaking from the bottom. Very irritating and thinking about contacting the company, asking for a replacement, or asking what I might do to stop the leaking!
I must say, I called them right after I bought it, had a question, and they really do provide great service, something that seems hard to find in this day and age.
I owned Sunbeam hot pots for years and the same problem...leaking from the bottom. I switched to the Dashpot, hoping for the best. I drink tea (no coffee) so a pot is something I use every morning. Now, I hold the pot over my sink while pouring the water into a cup, but I still have the leaking on my counter. Just aggravating!
UPDATE: I called the company today, and a very helpful, pleasant woman asked me a few questions and then informed me that they would send me a new pot...just like that! I gave her my mailing information, and she said it would be arriving within two weeks. She told me I could just dispose of the original pot so no need to send it back. Great customer service!
SECOND UPDATE: The new pot worked great, but now it is leaking again. I'm not going to call them...
