Travis: Freezer worked great for almost an entire year then just died. Lost hundreds of dollars of frozen food. Stick with a reputable brand from a local dealer (Lowes, Home depot, Walmart). Dealing with customer support online is bad.

John: Product arrived with several dents AND with the lid off center. When I put a dollar bill on the sealing gasket and close the top on the bill, there is absolutely ZERO resistance. Not only this, I can slide the bill back and forth with the lid closed on the dollar. The lid does NOT seal. I called Danby and spoke to a very nice lady who told me I would get a telephone call from Danby within 3 hours. This call never came. I did get a email asking me to send pictures of the damage and the off center top. Not only did I send pictures but I also sent a video showing me sliding the dollar bill up and down, back to front with the lid closed. If I knew how, I would post the video right here. I can live with the dents but not a freezer that Danby put into the market place that was clearly defective when put into a cardboard box that conceals the defect from the ultimate purchaser and Danby's retail seller. A freezer that will not seal is going to frost up and ice up constantly. It will result in higher electric bills and will shorten the life of the freezer. Also Danby advertises the freezer as garage ready but still after years of concerns expressed on Amazon reviews, the paperwork...

Chris: Freezer was well packaged and arrived with no shipping damage. It looks great. It was easy to move it into place and install it. After letting it settle for 6 hours I plugged it in.

This freezer happened to arrive on a day when my region saw record high temperatures. I was installing the freezer in a garage-type space with very little temperature protection. The room was 90⁰F when I nervously plugged the freezer in. The amazing thing? It was keeping ice frozen solid only 6 hours after plugging it in! That's a good freezer. One day later-- more record high temps-- the room temp is 90⁰F again and everything is keeping just fine, including ice cream!

I'm also impressed by how quiet this freezer is. I was expecting it to be much louder and I'm very happy it's not.

I am curious to see how well it holds up during the cold months, when the room will occasionally drop to 20-30⁰F. As others have pointed out, the printed manual conflicts with the information in this listing and says the freezer cannot handle these temperatures. Danby says the printed manual is simple for another model, and the freezer is in fact garage ready. So far it passed the hot weather test!...

E. Spencer: As my dad is getting older and has hunted all his life, I decided to take up hunting this year to spend time with him. While I greatly enjoyed spending time with my dad, the fruits of our hunting trips (no trophy hunts - this is hunting for FOOD) resulted in a rather unexpected bounty. Initially filling my home freezer with venison I quickly came to realize that it was grossly insufficient for the task at hand. Not really having any room in the house, I knew I'd have to put a freezer on my back porch to handle the additional storage.

I opted for this freezer because it was garage rated, especially a requirement for our Florida weather when it will be on a porch or in a non-conditioned environment. I ordered it and plugged it in. Not knowing how cold the freezer would get, I turned it up all the way to test while waiting on my additional meat to be processed. Because it was outside, I purchased a remote thermometer to keep an eye on the temperature. And to my surprise, the temperatures in the freezer were lower than -30*F. MUCH colder than I expected.
