The CyberPower CP800AVR AVR UPS System is the best Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) on the market based on its build quality, overall performance, and durability. This 800VA/450W system offers 8 outlets and is extremely compact. Its simulated sine wave technology safeguards desktop Computers, while four battery backup and surge protected outlets correct minor power fluctuations without switching to battery power. Tech Support is also available for any questions or concerns.Mr T. Boyd: works well, replaces previous of different make that battery expired

Edward Reid: Backup power devices using lead-acid batteries are frustrating, because the battery life is always limited and by the time the batteries fail, it's hard to find replacements and they cost nearly as much as the device. I don't yet know how true that will be of this unit, but I'm not expecting a great improvement.
However, there seem to be no alternatives for a reasonable price to protect a single home computer system.
My laptop supposedly will hibernate when the power fails, but it often fails to recover. I got tired of this, and with summer coming in Florida (think thunderstorms), I needed better protection to avoid high frustration.
So far, it's kept computer, external monitor, and networking running into half a dozen power outages. I don't push the limits, but I can comfortably finish what I'm working on and put the computer into hibernation. That leaves enough capacity in the UPS to keep the networking equipment running for some long time, so I can continue using my phone on WiFi instead of mobile data.
So for performance so far, it's done very well. But I'll never give top stars to a UPS that uses a lead-acid battery.
I totally discounted the...

Linda: I over purchased in terms of need vs this unit’s capacity. Should have talked to my computer tech before buying in haste after reading an article in NY Times recommending this unit. I am donating it to a favorite charity for their admin offices since it exceeds my home needs. The nonprofit is very grateful for the donation.

ptkelly: I've gotten daily emails from the unit. Short Circuits, wiring faults, hardware faults, all followed up by a event clearing email a few seconds later. I purchased the UPS about a month ago.
My attempt to submit a ticket on their website failed. There is no email contact other than sales. The only available option was chat. The support person wanted me to provide a print screen. The "Powerpanel" software they provide is limited in what it shows on it's non-sizeable screen and text cannot be copied. She asked for print screens and the chat function does not allow it. The only option was to save print screens to a file and upload. When I told her of the hardware fault, this was her response: "The hardware fault message is an indication that some of the internal parts of your unit must have maximized their useful lifespan." My last contact to CyberPower support was when I wanted to see if replacing batteries would be okay on the prior UPS. I'd explained that I'd had it for several years. She said I should probably buy a new one. I didn't question this and bought this unit (basically a newer fancier version of the same model). When she told me my UPS parts were beyond their...

Nicholas Totton: Not much to say about the item. Been using it for about a year now and it does everything it needs to. Saved me through a couple storms where the power flickered on and off all night and my computer kept running through the whole thing while everything else in the house was going on and off like it was the end of the world. Didn't get a flicker of power from anything plugged in it and it ran smoothly without a hiccup in the computer or the internet connecting running through it. Zero noise or heat from the thing ether.
I only have two small negatives about the thing. The first is that the plugs in the back are placed next to each other rather closely. So if you need to plug something in back there that has one of those big bricks it can take up two spaces and you may run low on plugs quickly. Secondly, the thing feels like a metric ton when I was taking it out of the box. So I hope you got some good arm strength when setting it up. Once set however it's perfect.

Nick P: I live in an area with frequent power outages, lasting just long enough to kick me out of meetings. I bought two of these, one for my modem and another for my router, and I've successfully weathered 10 or so outages without getting disconnected. They are bigger than I expected, and are not the nicest looking appliances, but it works!
