I am concerned about the plastic piece that presses down from the lid to the blade attachment. Looks easy to break and is essential to engage the blade to the mixer's gears.

Tim E.: I got this for our discontinued SM-50 stand mixer while it’s still available. Attachments are getting really hard to find, I’m currently searching for the SM-MG meat grinder. This works much better than expected. This is a lot handier than dragging out the big food processor and it’s easier to clean. It’s not as noisy as some reviews have said, and no problems using it for pulsing.

Amazon Customer: i had a previous Cuisinart processor - it worked well until the plastic stem cracked (in about 2-3 years). I am using this one as I used the the first one- to shred a lot of carrots, and beets from the garden or to slice potatoes. Working well so far. I did find a piece of plastic in my coleslaw the other day and found a piece missing afrom the processor, but it does not affect the performance so far.

Hazel Brewster: I really like it. I first bought the smaller individual one but, it broke. So, I spent the money like I should have done in the first place, and got the good one. It is made far more sturdy and works very well. It comes with an extra blade for slicing and shredding. I used the shedder for zucchini and it worked like a hot darn.

Marilyn Smith: This item was tied up at Customs and the company went above and beyond to rectify the problem. Exactly as described, doesn't do a large amount at one time but is perfect for my use

Heather WolfHeather Wolf: This is the only food processor I have ever owned. I got it as part of a purchase with my stand mixer. My husband promptly broke the lid on mine and I was able to find a replacement lid, pusher and bowl (I bought all three replacements because well, we're klutzes) on Amazon for relatively cheap. I was very happy to find replacement parts and not have to replace the whole thing. The noise is cringe-worthy but I have no basis for comparison to other models, so I will leave other reviewers to that.
The blades are incredibly sharp. I also promptly sliced my finger open while washing the disc the first time. Barely touched it. Like the worst paper cut imaginable. I have kids, so I knew I was not going to have these things floating around in a drawer. I was very disappointed to find that Cuisinart does not make any kind of a case that these smaller blades will fit. If blades are going to be that sharp, you have to have a way to safely store them. That's why I took off a star. That and the noise this thing makes.
After taking some measurements, I went searching for an alternative storage solution. I found this craft tote that works perfectly to store this attachment and the...

Mary Jacobsen: Well, it has been said... this is a mistake. Too small, might as well have a good stand alone chopper. WAY TOO NOISY! Seriously you should use at least a mild ear plug. No push or surging, which I use. Too Small. Off to replace the processor I had, which I wore out. Not sorry about the mixer, that was an good decision. Save the $$ maybe the pasta make is a better option.

OnLine_Shopper: I purchased this item as a Christmas present. As I handed over the gift I added . . ."You are going to be sorry you asked for this." Being asked "WHY?" I mentioned that many reviews complain about the excessive noise. It food processor has now been used more than once and the feedback is "Sure it's loud, but nothing I didn't expect. I wouldn't want to listen to it for hours on, but for the short amount of time it runs, it is well worth it, considering the job it does." So the gift was a big hit and item is working beautifully.
