Jennifer BoozerJennifer Boozer:
I was torn between this and the kitchenaid and also I wasn't sure I needed the 12cup. I ultimately chose this one because it came with the 4 cup bowl that fits inside the 12 cup bowl. I currently have a mini cuisinart so I figured I could upgrade and replace that one at the same time.
Some said they never use the smaller bowl but I already have. I made coconut butter which only called for one package of shredded coconut and the larger bowl would have been too big for that job. Also, I made pesto in the larger bowl and next time I think I'll do it the smaller bowl (see picture). I'm still experimenting with the bowls for the most part. I baked sweet potatoes to make a purée and used the smaller bowl (see picture). I should have used the larger bowl because I had about 4 cups of diced potatoes and I think it was a bit much for the little bowl. I made blueberry and banana ice cream in the larger bowl using frozen blueberries and frozen bananas and it was perfect.
I am anxious to try the slicing/shredding attachments because that is one of my main reasons for upgrading my machine in the first place. I will be shredding cheese and slicing vegetables but...

Amazon Customer: First the positives and then a caution. I love the machine; although I just used it for the first time today. It isn't super loud like a nutri-bullet but not super quiet either. Everything fits together well and it did a great job on pulverizing my Oreos and mixing in the softened cream cheese for my truffles. I can't speak to how it does with slicing veggies and such yet. I have very slick old counters in my kitchen and the rubber feet held it in place. It didn't walk across the counter even when I wasn't holding it. It's very heavy and seems durable. I hope it proves to be over time. I do like that the lid gasket is removable for cleaning as previous Cuisinart models had problems with food getting under the gasket and staying there and getting nasty. The book also says that the parts, except for the motor housing of course, are dishwasher safe; but, then it warns that over time the extremely hot water in a dishwasher could damage the parts so I plan to hand wash. It was pretty self explanatory to assemble but I would read the instructions to make sure you get everything locked and loaded, especially if this is your first food processor.
