AKSEA1: I wanted to love this pressure cooker but you must know the timer starts the second you push start.

Unless you are an engineer or time traveler the amount of checking and changing time was the #1 reason for return.

Remember… the quantity of food cooked changes how long it takes to get to pressure. So there is no way to get the same results each time, cold start, hot start, little recipes, large recipes… way too much math and unpredictability.

Instructions, recipes, and internet help was limited and worthless. Throw away the small few pages of recipes.

Jeffrey: If you care about the quality of rice you eat, plus you prefer to eat healthy brown gaba rice thus machine is essential. We also own the zojirushi rice cooker. Both are superior in performance and quality. However, the cuckoo gaba ri e function produces a superior product than the zojirushi. This machine is worth the price.

CAROLINE S.: Read the manual. Some settings like regular rice you need to enter the sub folder. Yes there is a smell at first. I washed all parts and put it through 2-20 min. sanitizer cycles and the smell was gone.
So far it has made perfect rice - sushi, jasmine, and regular. Baked a small cake on oven setting and came out great. Seared a steak and caramelized onions. Now to see longevity.
I do have another name brand pressure cooker however I actually like the Cuckoo better. The steam releases more safely when pressure is released. Also tells you if the lid is not locked, even off just a little.Right size for 2-4 people.

Update: 2.5 years since I bought it. I still love my cuckoo however the display is on the blitz. Voice part still works so I can still use it. Amount of usage during the time I had it about 3x a week.

Chinnie: I really wanted to like this cooker esp for the jog dial and the fact that it had a GABA function (whereas many multicookers do not), but the reheat function stopped working after one use... could not get it to work no matter how many times I tried (by pressing the select button in the middle of the jog dial...). It was just slightly colder than lukewarm. I reheat my rice a lot. And you cannot set the temperature for Reheat, only for Keep Warm (I tried).

Also, I wish the inner pot had markings for how much water to add like this model: CRP-P1009SB - the reheat function works very well - hot and toasty and makes cold, leftover rice taste like new again.

Fpd: I got this pressure cooker mostly because I wanted something I trusted to cook rice (this one has multiple rice settings and I wanted to replace my rice cooker), and also wanted to pressure cook beans, and I didn’t want something ugly like the instapot.
It’s hard to suss out from the written materials how it compares to the instapot as far as pressure level. I think it’s slightly less but not by much. (If you read the info on electric pressure cookers, they come up to a certain pressure but don’t stay at that highest level. So who knows the real pressure level.)
So far, I really like the machine but if you want to adapt instapot recipes for this, you gotta get a sense for how long something will take to come to pressure. Unlike the instapot, the timer on this INCLUDES the time to come to pressure. So depending on what I’m making and its temp and water level, I end up estimating 10-20 mins to come to pressure. This matters because you set your own cook time on the multi cook function. Other settings work well, like “browning fry” aka sauté.
