I have always used Crucial RAM both DIMM and SODIMM for replacing my MacBook memory - it never disappoints. I would recommend this brand - you can even go on their website and they have a tool which scans your computer and tells you the best upgrade you can get for your system. The part itself comes in very sturdy, protective, yet totally fuss-free package which is easy to open and easy to remove the RAM stick without touching it much at all.

Fletch: My system came with a total of 6GB of RAM when I bought it nearly 3 years ago, which was not an unusual set-up for that time. This did not trouble me since I didn't expect to have to keep the unit for more than a couple of years. It was adequate for the tasks I performed.

However, a recession and 3 years later, without any obvious system upgrade about to take place, I decided to at least increase the RAM memory. I could have ripped out the original 6GB of RAM and replaced it with something more potent, but the original sticks of memory were (are) performing well and it didn't seem that matching that memory would be a bad thing.

I was right. The extra 6GB of RAM, carefully matched to the original specs, has proved to be the perfect upgrade which has now given my system a new lease of life.

The only thing I need now is an SSD

Come on Amazon. Bring the prices down!

G. A. Carlson: Liked the price. Liked the reviews. Ordered to upgrade from 4GB (2x2) to 8GB (2x4). Had some concern about this RAM working w/ my MSI motherboard and original RAM. Crucial website said all was compatible. Installed cards into 2 open slots easily. Booted up and BIOS and Win7 recognized all 8GB immediately. Win7 did immediately exhibit a cycle hang-up and every 30-45 secs active Windows panes de-activated (had to click into them again). Was skeptical this was memory related but everything was working fine prior. Who needs all the details but tedious trial and error trouble shooting uncovered (I guess) a driver problem (most common culprit in Win problems). Everything is working fine now. Still dont know how the RAM upgrade would cause problems with USB wireless driver but I'm going to say the problem is on the driver side not the RAM. If anything else to report will update review.

J. Akers: I ordered the Crucial DDR3 RAM to upgrade the memory in my computer at work. It was running with a 2GB stick already and a spare slot beside it.

RAM comes in DDR1, DDR2 or DDR3 modules, if you are unsure what RAM type you need you can download the System Scanner from Crucial which will recommend the correct upgrade for you. ([...]). Don't worry if you buy the wrong type, it won't fit so there's no worry of damaging your computer. Amazon's return policy is such that it's really easy to do a swap.

The Amazon packaging is small enough to fit through your postbox so no trips to the Post Office if you're not in. Inside is the clear plastic Crucial packaging containing the RAM stick. Nice and minimal.

To install the RAM use a screwdriver to remove the side panel from your computer tower, once open look inside and locate a memory stick the same as your new one. There should be a slot to the side of it waiting for your new stick. Simply remove the RAM from the plastic packaging (try not to touch the gold connectors), line up the groove with the slot (it only goes in one way) and push until the clips on both side click into place. Amazon, as always, top notch delivery service with Prime. Don't waste a lot of money on the more expensive RAM, it's not worth it. Buy these and add a cheap RAM cooler which is much better than a heatsink anyway.

Martin: I bought two of these sticks to upgrade the 2Gb (ECC) RAM that came with my MicroServer N40L. Because you cannot mix ECC and and non ECC this was the best upgrade option for me as I don't really need ECC memory for a home NAS unit. ECC memory is expensive and overkill for my uses. This memory is slightly faster than the stated 1066 speed stated on the product documentation but it works perfectly at a lower speed. This was a great upgrade and I have always found Crucial memory reliable and worth the couple of extra quid over other brands.

Don't be put off by the "value" branding this is very good memory and well worth the investment if you are intending running a 64 bit OS or multiple instances through ESXi or other hypervisor.

Alex: I over clocked these modules to see how they would handle it even though I had no intention on maintaining the OC due to inability to dissipate the constant heat very well, but with AMD's overclocking tools they took the different timings and frequency very well. However, it did not like to keep the settings; every time I restarted the computer they would clock back to default settings despite my having tried to same them a lot of different ways. These modules were not really made to be taken above the factory 1333Mhz so that could have been the reason the clock would not keep.

Again, it was not why I bought the modules to begin with and I am very happy with how these sticks have turned out and the price point on them was very reasonable for the value I got. I would recommend them to anyone looking to pick up extra memory that they just want to drop in, and have work right out the gate. If you are looking to over clock then you will want to find another solution as these are not particularly designed for those purposes. To gain the OC, you can't be too cheap :P

Chas Law: This pair of mem sticks looks like mem sticks should. If your computer is suitably ventilated and you are not an overclocking, gaming fanatic then these work just fine without flashy heat sinks. Of course, different memory sticks work differently with different motherboard/processor combinations so I can only say that they plugged in and were detected correctly on my particular set up. At the end of the day, if you are considering buying any memory, get your shortlist of the ones you are considering then go to the memory manufacturer's web site and check that they are recommended for your motherboard. DO NOT go off the motherboard manufacturer's QVL, (Quality Vendor's List). The memory manufacturer's do more thorough testing so results are more telling. In my case, Asus showed some other memory on their QVL and I bought it. When I eventually checked with the memory manufacturer it was not compatible with the motherboard. So 2 RMAs later I bought this pair and, voila, my problem was solved. Still running, still keeping cool and no frills. I don't need my memory to look like an X-Wing fighter. Han: I bought these to upgrade my Windows 7 Core 2 Duo system.

I was previously running 2 GB RAM on Windows 7 32 bit.

My system is relatively fast, but definitely felt that it need a RAM upgrade. I was using the processor/RAM widget on the Windows, and it was always using about 40-50% of my RAM on IDLE!

Now after upgrading RAM usage on idle is about 20%. Makes sense.

I looked for some more technical online reviews for this RAM and yes it did receive Best of Tom's Hardware award. For best bang for buck.

I haven't run a full RAM test (which everyone can by downloading Ubuntu's ISO Installer online... it's a boot CD with memtest!... for free!), but will later and post results.

Additionally, I had to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit to take full advantage of the 4 GB of RAM. If you still run 32 bit Windows 7 after install the new RAM it will only use up about 3.25 GB of RAM and not the full 4. Something to do with allocating memory for the NIC or something.

Overall, this was a good purchase. Good RAM for the money.

P.S. It works very nicely with my ASUS P5QC mobo. I have not yet tried overclocking the RAM.
