Keith: Happy with the product, but the head of the acts keeps wanting to come off the handle, which is a bit frustrating. May have to glue them to keep them in place.

HeathHeath: I opened the boxes and they wreaked of quality. I have no doubt I can conquer the wild when I need to with these. Can't recommend CRKT enough. I know I made the right choice.

MaxD: About 5 years ago I became interested in the Tomahawk. It has a long and storied history in North America, is particularly important as a fighting weapon, along with Bowie knife, and much later, the Ka-Bar in the US context. The Tomahawk and the Bowie, often used in conjunction, are the quintessential North American edged weapons. Yes, their development has multicultural and varied antecedents but forms the weapons finally took owe much to the history of US I think. That is all by way of introduction.
The only tomahawks I have are Cold Steel's admirable Trench Hawks. They are kind of heavy, and I wanted something a bit more reminiscent of the traditional Tomahawks used by Americans of the past. That meant handles of wood, rather than Cold Steel polymer (of which there is nothing wrong). CRKT's Tomahawks are universally well reviewed, so I thought I would give them a try. I'm glad I did.
The Woods Chogan is just about everything you could want in a tomahawk, which must double as a camp/bushcraft tool and weapon of self defense/general combat to really meet the definition of a tomahawk. Any old hand axe does not a tomahawk make. The Woods Chogan meets all the criteria...

macroman: Seems to be well built. I sharpened the cutting edge when I received the axe. Seems to be holding its edge. Good axe to have for splitting small logs or removing small branches off trees. It's quite light so it's not good at chopping large items. But it's light weight allows it to be easily carried on hikes in the woods for function and protection. I find this axe is my "go to" over my knife.

Kaiser: A little odd to use in the land survey occupation but its working out just fine. It's holding an edge, small enough to carry amongst the other pile of gear and hangs right with the belt sheath ( an extra) or in vest back pocket.
The hazard - The handle can get quite slippery during wet or snowy days and needs to be addressed before use. The handle is the same diameter down to the but end and has a slippery finish when wet limiting grip. Epoxy Fibre Tape fixed that problem.
During frustrating work days found I could not axe throw worth a crap.

=> kann ich nur empfehlen.

joe harasykojoe harasyko: manage your expectations and know what you're buying and you won't be dissapointed. live had a few CRKT products and ive been pretty happy. The heads are heald in by friction. that's the way they are designed. they're made to keep the heads removable. that's a selling point, not a flaw. I saw someone complain that the handle was hollow, its not... its seasoned hickory, and the 2 I got are actually quite beautiful. hardwoods like hickory get lighter and harder as they age and season. again, selling point, not design flaw... out of the box one head was a little sharp, the other fairly blunt. when I looked a bit closer, both have a laquer on the heads and the duller one's edge had the laquer all the way over the edge. ima say this for the folks in the back... Axes are typically duller than knives!! Axes are meant for chopping with force, knives are meant to slice and cut. doesn't mean they can't do both but this is the way they're designed. they both definitely needed to be sharpened but I wasn't expecting a razor blade tomahawk right out the box... 5 bux each at my local hardware and they're now perfect. the sheaths fit a little wonky, tight in spots, loose in others, but fir a mass...

Chet: Finally had a chance to take it out on a backpack camp trip with me. I do like the axe, but it's not that much better than my cheapy Fiskars from Canadian Tire that I used to use. I thought I'd spoil myself and get a good camp axe. When it arrived it had a distinct burr on the blade that took a fair bit of time to clean up and get a good edge on, I can understand that they don't want to ship a razor sharp blade through the mail but it was a bit disappointing to have to sit down with my stones as soon as I opened the box. The fact that you have to buy (or make) a sheath for it is a definite bummer though.
Pros:
Take down handle makes it easier to pack
Light weight of total unit is good
Hammer end is very handy to have around camp
Holds an edge very well
Chops like a mutha... (see cons)
Cons:
Head does slide loose on handle and it is a bit slippery to hold.
(Think I will try to sand it down as others have mentioned)
Handle almost seems to be too short to me, it's in no man's land between a 14" hatchet and a 24" camp axe and is awkward to use as a 2 handed axe. The 19" handle makes it a very long hatchet though.
Splitting lodgepole pine with it...

W. P. Buchanan: Let me start of by saying that this product is a 3.5 stars and not really a 4 stars for me, but you don't get that option on Amazon. I don't post a lot of reviews, but sometimes I feel that potential customers need to know a little more about the product than they might get by reading some of the other reviews posted on this product. So here it goes. I hope you find this helpful.
Pro's:
Head weight (heavier than a trail hawk, but not as heavy as an axe, middle weight and works well)
Design with good cutting surface, and it comes with a hammer pull for getting work done
Not a novelty item, but appears well built for work
Head fitted to the handle by sliding down onto handle and banged until tight against the handle
Con's
Varnish or some sort of finish on the head
Varnish or some sort of finish on the handle
Blade Dull out of the box
Now let me state that I am a tomahawk fan. I think that this tool is the best compromise going into the woods for getting work done between an small axe and a hawk I will take a heavier head hawk. The hawk is not as heavy as an axe, has enough mass to cut limbs, branches, saplings, small trees. If you break a...
