Comments

Ian Ellison: I really wish Cressi would hire some better sheath designers. Their actual knives are amazing. Incredible build quality (*zero* wiggle between handle and blade), excellent sharpness and blade features, top-shelf stainless steel.

But although the sheath design (both old and new) isn’t *quite* as bad as some people say (the old one just needs a counter-intuitive ‘push’ to lock, and the new one needs a strong pinch to the plastic flanges with thumb and forefinger, as shown, to release the blade), they are indeed pretty bad.

If you practice until you can release the blade with no effort, and mostly just need the knife for emergencies, then buy with confidence.

mountaindew267: The media could not be loaded.  There were no instructions on how to get the knife out of the sheath, and even after finding the trick it's not 100% reliable. There's no texture where you need to push on the sheath. Watch my video if you don't know how the release works.

grady: Just right for emergency to cut free of untangling.

DuncanDuncan: Nice knife. Perfect size for attachment to gear or keeping in BCD pocket. Very sharp blade edge out of the box. It is compact but I can get three ungloved fingers on the handle easily, with one hanging off the back. It is not too slippery and it would certainly be fine for quick jobs - where you don’t need a gorilla’s grip to cut through a battleships mooring rope! The description of the locking mechanism is wrong IMO. I cannot remove the knife by pinching the tabs with two fingers, they do not appear to move inwards at all. The knife is held securely, and easily released by using ONE hand and ONE thumb pressing DOWN on ONE tab while lifting the handle - simple and ambidextrous. Ut may be prone to coming out accidentally. I think the belt clip will attach to 1” webbing reasonable securely (might not trust it) but there is not much of that on my BCD running horizontally for a vertical carry position. Not tried the BCD inflator hose attachment but that may be the best place to carry it if it can be released with just the let hand, although I don’t like the idea of a pointy knife near my neck (SPG hose might be better). Definitely a rescue knife and not a work knife - very...

Andy bobandy: A great little knife for spear fishing. I read every review complaining about the terrible safety latch and I couldn’t agree more - it sucks. However, I used the little piece of string included and created a secondary safety mechanism. This way if the original latch fails, the string will catch the knife, preventing it from falling to the ocean floor. So yes, great knife, terrible safety latch. Also the knife definitely could have been sharper. If my safety string fails and I lose this knife, I’ll probably turn this review into 1/5

Jeremy: Well designed, has a rope cutter built into the blade too. The knife is considerably smaller than I expected it would be, although I didn’t read the dimensions or weight of the product prior to purchasing (but who does!?)

JaiJai: I was hoping to do a follow up review, but original review is not popping up. That being said, after at least 4yrs of regular use with respect to kayak fishing, cutting bait, prepping fish in the field (when fillet knife wasn't packed, cutting braided line, etc, this knife has held up much better than i thought it would. In fact, by this time, i thought some rust would have been imbedded on blade or where blade meets handle, however, condition remains intact and rust free.

Dont be mislead into thinking that because it is made of stainless steel, that it will remain rust free. There are times when due to time lack of available time, eauipment maintanence is not performed right away, hence light rust does develop as with any other stainless steel gear. However, after a few days to 3 wks of salt water residue allowed to remain, it does clean up exceptionally well with light scrubbing with cleanser follwed by light coat of "3 in 1 oil".

In terms of the resin components, they have hld up as well and very pleased that they too have endured regular use. Initially, i was worried that plastic compents felt a bit brittle, and ultimately shatter with impact, but thats not been...

Art-the-MouseArt-the-Mouse: DAMN! I want to give it 4 or even 5 stars.... but I just CAN'T, Here's why. It's small, REALLY small... I don't have particularly large hands (slightly above average) but it's difficult to maintain 'purchase' on the handle due to it's size. My  Princeton Tec Torrent LED Dive Light (330 Lumens, Neon Yellow)  is 7" inches long by comparison. Also, it's too smooth... there are dimples on the handle surface, but they add little to no texture for grip-ability. So there's why I can't give it more than 3 stars... Now let me tell you WHY I wanna give it 4 or 5.... The blade is sharp, not 'laser beam' sharp, but very serviceable. It is double edged with serrations on the back of the blade and a effective 'line cutter' grove as well. The sheath is WELL designed and the lock up in the sheath is really good, it ain't going nowhere. Nor, is it hard to extract... One handed and it's a breeze. Also, the clip on the back of the sheath fits my  Extrasport Swiftwater Ranger Life Jacket - Red XL  PERFECTLY and holds the knife securely in place. I've tried half a dozen other 'dive' knives. Some were POS (Water Rat), others too expensive (Promate), if only this were a bit larger...
