I used it to paint micarta knife scales. It worked out very well. I recommend using Graphite for painting black, as black has a purple tint. The paint is reusable.

Amazon Customer: Results were pretty good. For large pieces, really be sure to have a large enough recipient. Enough for it not to be bunched up heavily, otherwise expect uneven results.😅

JohnnyDJohnnyD: I have been trying to re-color my fading 20 year old 100% Nylon Goretex jacket I love, sadly you can't buy this type jacket any longer with same quality and function.
I tried the regular Rit dye at 180°- 190° it did not take at all. So I practiced on other nylon items ( I have tested many color/combos previously with USGI colors) and through watching and learning about other dyes I ended up on Rit Dyemore and the "just below boiling" recommended. I was worried the 200°+ would damage the garment. I have successfully dyed other items with nylon and cotton but this 100% nylon was different. The only thing I screwed up was the color mix to get an emerald green color. I was so caught up on getting it done since it was taking me longer than I had time for, from getting water to temp and the smell getting to my wife (first time I did this inside with dyemore due to weather) I poured in the whole bottle of graphite @#$%#. So this was Dyemore 50/Peacock Green and 50/Graphite. Pretty much a total waste of the green you can see the green a bit in the sun. We have not seen the sun for days so the picture is with artificial LED lighting.
Heating up the 3 gallons of water took...

Rob Lutter: I tried Dylon Washing Machine Dye a couple times on various temperatures with no luck dying a nike nylon running top. I wanted to change it from dark blue to black. I had almost giving up before trying this - I left it in a pot of simmering (70-80'c) water for about an hour with this stuff in and the nylon didn't melt or anything and when I washed it out in the machine and dried it (don't tumble dry nylon, air dry) it actually worked. It wasn't a deep black, but more a slate black because of nylon shimmer. But, it worked and therefore will work on pretty much any lesser fabric - wool, cotton, maybe even synthetics like running tights, waterproof jacket etc. Though beware boiling synthetic clothes might reduce any waterproofing they have in them. Good luck.

KeithJames Thomson: I have used this polyester dye a number of times and not all synthetics that it is designed for take the dye as well as another. It is also really hard to predict. One piece of clothing might take it very well and the next not. I follow the instructions and keep the water hot with the very large covered pot over a flame on the stove the whole time. I still will buy this again though because there does not seem to be much else on the market for synthetic fabrics and it works very nicely when it works.

Savvy Shopper: Most synthetic fabrics will not dye with tradition dyes. You need a dye specifically for synthetic materials, such as this one.
PROS:
Great color strength. Little to no bleed if properly used. Easy to do in a top-load, full water washing machine, or on the stove top in a Stainless Steel pot (follow included directions).
CONS:
I do not consider this a product drawback or a negative, but you should note that this (or any dye) is not good to use in a front-load or low water washing machine.
COMPS:
As compared to tradition dyes or many other brands of synthetic dyes I have tried, this dye does a better job.
VERDICT:
Good value for money. I can get many craft or home decorating projects done with a single bottle of this highly concentrated dye.
I hope you found this information helpful. Have a great day! ~Savvy Shopper
