PALOMA's ARTPALOMA's ART: I did add a few pictures of the book to give you an idea of what it has inside. I didn't want to add a whole chapter to be fair to the author and give it a chance and buy the book. I am a beginner in art. I dont know how to draw or add depth,dimension etc...and this book gives you the definition of different techniques, talks about brushes, how to mix paints so we dont have to buy oranges and different of greens etc.., and just tells you what you will learn in a classroom if college is not what you want to attend and just be a self taught person. I read negative reviews and i dont agree with their opinions but i respect their opinion. It is a small book but it does have everything you need to learn how to paint. I do give this author Jerry Yarnell a 5 star rating

Gilles: Je n’irai pas jusqu’à dire que ce livre est un incontournable mais il propose des idées intéressantes. Un chapitre, qui selon moi aurait pu être éviter qui traite de notions assez basiques. Je ne regrette pas de me l’avoir procuré.

FireSpirit Designs: Even though I've been an artist for many yrs. & have a whole library of art & photography books, I still like to add another well written art book when I see one. This book is well-written, thorough, & has great illustrations. It is full of good information that you can use in your own paintings, plus it has detailed, step by step instructions to enable you to see & apply the effects in your own work. Jerry Yarnell is a great teacher. This book is well worth the price. I love his style of painting & would definitely recommend it for a beginner or a professional artist's collection.

M. L Strickland: I am very puzzled by the one negative review on this book. I obviously disagree about 1000%!!

The information on setting up your pallet is essential to the book unless you have another of Jerry's book with these instructions. Without this information, you will not fully understand the rest of the instructions.

This book gives detailed directions for painting most of the elements of a landscape. Clumps of grass, pebbles, rocks and stones, dead trees, leafy trees, dirt paths, running water, water reflections, ocean waves, etc. Each step is illustrated so you ca see exactly how the layers are built up. To paint your landscape, you just combine the appropriate elements!

Finally, the process of combining the elements into a finished landscape is taught by complete, start to finish, step by step instruction on painting "High Country Waterfall". Mountains, trees, grass, running water, and a waterfall are all combined into a beautiful painting!

With the instruction in this book, you can compose and create your own beautiful landscape even if you are a beginner!
