deepmoon: Good writing style. Very good sales pitch. But useful content is pretty thin. After reading this book, realize Dan Clay had a very narrow perspective on writing Resumes. You can read it in a few hours. The book is just meant to drive traffic to his blog and website. Why we are paying for his advertising by buying a crappy book that link to his website every two pages.
Bare info on formatting for human readability. Nothing about formatting for Application Tracking Systems.
If you want a serious guide on how to write a good resume read.

SantiagoNReal: The book is good no fluff and straight to the point .
I think the free bonus material is not included anymore because the website would not connect. That was the disappointing part.

shibut: Good, practical tips. The fact that the author 's WordPress website is down is a shame and that many of the examples and bonus materials he promises makes one quite annoyed. Overall quick read and quite helpful.

Alex: From my perspective, the book will bring value to those, who have never written a job application before and who have done no online research on the topic. It will also bring value to those, who have worked in the same position for the past 10 or more years and therefore haven't written a resume in a long time.
You can access the FREE goodies that come with the book without purchasing it as well on the author's webpage in exchange for your e-mail address (basically, in exchange for permission to upsell you).
For the majority of people, I am not sure whether it is worth to spend the time or money on this book. On the other hand, if you want a substantial amount of resume writing guidance gathered in one place, why not, it doesn't cost too much and it is only approximately 130 pages.
Lastly, the book makes no reference to the European job market and it seems, some aspects of the recommendations do not fit Europe.
Good luck with your job search!

Utkarsh Srivastava: i really liked reading this book. I struggle finishing any book - but this was a breeze. Its very crisp - to the point and mordern. It deserves your investment to give you the starting point to build your resume.
The only thing author has left out is - this book won't write the resume for you, that you only need to do for yourself :p

Shadman Azad: Even though I am still in college, I was able to highlight my resume which does make it stand out from all other resumes I have seen from my room mates, friends etc. I haven't finished the entire book yet but it has definitely been an enlightening as I continue to read and find my flaws when I first made my resume.

Kindle Customer: There's a lot to like in this book. The author is very perceptive and has some solid advice. I would recommend this as a companion to another book that covers formatting and has more examples of before and afters. There are a few things the author and I disagree on. The book states that cover letters are unnecessary in most cases because most of the time they don't get read anyway. It is true that a lot of times they don't get read but do you really want to look like you are unprepared or doing the bare minimum? Cover letters are also where you address employment gaps and relocation. The book also says one page for most resumes and it's a pretty controversial topic almost everyone disagrees on what page length but two pages is the industry standard. Also, I don't know any resume writers that get paid by the page but plenty of ghostwriters do. For personal safety only include your city and state on your resume, no street address. After 5 years you shouldn't include your graduation date to prevent "screen outs". The author talks a bit about this and it's good advice to avoid discrimination but 15 years is way too long. The only other area is the highlighted skills/competencies...

Ally: This is a great guide to writing an effective resume. The book is concise and to the point, easy to read and common sense. The one thing I disagree with the author is his position on cover letters. He says not to bother with it. Maybe in some small segment of high-tech companies on the west coast they don't need cover letters but in all other areas of the country the cover letters are still very much a necessity. I sent out my resume to 5 companies and received 4 responses but of those 5 companies I sent my resume without cover letter to 2 of them. Only one of those 2 responded and it was a start up located in Silicon Valley. Most companies require a cover letter so I would say ignore that advise in the book, otherwise it's the best resume-writing guide out there ( I received 2 job offers after sending my resume). The other (small) issue I had with the book is that in about half of it the words with letter d had a weird sign printed instead of that letter. Since this is a self-published book I guess the printer had some glitch in the computer program. The author may want to consider to review that. My copy was printed on 1/2/19.
