Ruth: My dog seemed to not like the slippery texture of this collar. It did not keep her from reaching her backside even though being very bulky. We could tell immediately this one wasn't going to work for my little dog so I returned it and bought a donut type from the local pet shop - which worked great btw.

Judge Mental: At $30, these are a bit pricey, but they look comfortable, even for sleeping. They are probably more comfortable than the (thicker) inflatable collars, but harder to clean than some inflatables.
(Of course the hard cones are by far the worst option - they get caught on things & pull the dogs head.)
(An option that's even more comfortable than this "ARRR Comfy UFO", that you might consider (depending on the location of the wound), is a "Dog Recovery Suit" for Abdominal Surgical Wounds. The Dotoner version is open in the back so you don't need to do anything when they want to pee or poop.)
Three things about the ARRR - Amazon web page:
(1) I do not like that the ratings and reviews for the "first edition" and "second edition" are combined so that you can't tell which ratings and which reviews are for which product.
(2) The ARRR sizing chart is "difficult" at best. (It seems funny that in their example, a Westie is an XL!)
I'd say that the most important size considerations are:
(A) it fits over your dogs head (their ad seems to ignore this, the one we got BARELY fit over her head),
(B) your dog can't lick its wound with it on, &
(C) your dog can...

KF: This is WAY better than having a big hard plastic cone on, running into things all day, or for weeks on end. That doesn't mean it's a cure all, you need to keep a watch over them! It's nice and soft and easy to put on. My dog doesn't do clothes or anything like that so thought she might react to me putting this on but nope. She let me put it on and seemed totally fine with it. If they lay their head down, it's like a little pillow under them instead of weird cold plastic! Just that alone make you feel like your pup isn't as miserable. If she was shaking her head a ton or a wild unruly pup, it could fall off, possibly, but not super easily.

ACL surgery. I have a smaller dog, about 25-30 lbs, and while close, this isn't wide enough to 100% prevent her from reaching her back legs if she wanted to. Even with the upgraded version with another ring, there's room there. It's still going to create a barrier for sure, which should help stop them. Each dog is going to be different in their level of persistence in wanting to lick. Thankfully, she seemed to have almost no inclination to lick her wound. 豊: 体を掻いて傷つけてしまうので、常にプラスチックのカラーを付けてました。これに替えてからつけてても枕がわりにして寝てたり楽になったように見える。ただサイズが選びにくかったです。当方はホワイトテリアでXLでピッタリでした。

Heather T: I have a 110# German Shepherd that had CCL surgery. The loud plastic cone that they have dogs wear from the vet really freaked her out every time she hit a doorframe or chair with it and she ended up shaking most of the day. This made all the difference in the world! Super soft, has a crew neck style collar opening with a string toggle to tighten it, I couldn't due to her size. She found out quickly that it didn't make loud noises when she hit a doorframe and immediately settled down. When Kyung down to sleep, she had her own pillow attached and didn't faze her at all. She didn't mind going into her huge crate as it just makes a swishing sound of the polyester instead. For her, the collar needs one more ring on it as she can reach her back leg due to the flexibility of it, so I have to keep an eye on her constantly not to lick the surgery area. It does sponge clean easily as well. One more ring would've been perfect and I have the XXL size for the largest dog breeds and it still wasn't wide enough to stop her. I do recommend this however to anyone with a smaller dog (80lbs or less) as I think it would work perfectly for them. Even my vet liked it and saw how much calmer she was...
