MooneyPilot: I purchased the original manufacturer filters as they were on sale. The regular price is quite a bit higher than aftermarket filters which I would have gone with. It’s always tricky to determine if aftermarket parts will be as effective- particularly with filters that are at the heart of the product. The removed filters were inspected and contained a lot of very small particulate matter. I also used this filter when our apartment was exposed to smoke from a fire. It worked to minimize and mitigate the odour. A great product.

Erin: I love my air purifier, but I noticed that the black felt-like filter layer had become impregnated with dust after close to a year of constant use, and it didn't want to come clean. Well, it turns out the recommended replacement interval for that piece is six months, so I was due for a new one.

I like that this pack sets you up to maintain your purifier for a year. The felt-like filter is on a six-month cycle, while the thicker HEPA filter is supposed to be replaced once a year. The price for this three-piece set, while not super inexpensive, seems fair for something that should see you through a whole year.

My filters arrived well-packaged in a Coway-branded box that shows no obvious signs of being a cheap knockoff. I mention that, because there is frequently some concern whether we are getting a genuine product that is going to fit and function properly.

Jen: The filter itself smelled just fine, it looked clean and was easy to install. However, after leaving the room and coming back, suddenly for the first time ever my entire room smelled very gross. It wasn't exactly a chemical smell, just a bad one. I tried my little mini air purifier and the green light indicator turned red when I put it in the Conway filtered air. So I ran the conway near the door for a while to let the filter get a chance to breathe it out... It still smelled so I wrote to Amazon and they offered a replacement. While I was waiting for the replacement the smell improved and my little air purifier was happy and green again. Still, I think there is something wrong with the filter so I installed the replacement and it does not seem to be creating the same strange smell. I am returning the old filter. If any smell comes this time I will just run it near the outside door a bit to let it get the smell out of its system. I am not sure what it was but it seemed to be a passing thing.
