Todd: This is reasonably sharp right out of the box and I used it to hack down some overgrown evergreen bushes. It would slice through wood up to about 3/4” thick, and was heavy enough to chop through thicker branches. I did strike the ground a few times, but this did not leave any apparent marks on the blade. I haven’t used many similar tools to compare to, but I am happy with my purchase.

Amazon Customer: This is a beautiful, well made piece of craftsmanship. It looks so nice I could hang it on the wall, but it’s so well built it’d be a waste to not use it. It’s perfect for brush, limbs, and I’ve even sliced a mango with it. It cut right through the seed no problem. I’m sure I’ll carve a roast with it soon. Maybe thanksgiving turkey too. Plus no one will ever complain when you’re waving this thing around. It’s just the perfect all around tool.

Patrick Morris: I grew up using knives almost daily and I have carried a pocket knife for at least 50 years. Therefore, I know a thing or two about them. Sorry to say but after using this for about 10 minutes, I found a chip in the blade. The mfg. will probably say that I bounced it off a rock or a piece of metal but that is not the case. I used it to cut down about a dozen ASH tree sprouts. They were about one inch in diameter. For those who don't know, Ash wood is very hard and this blade should not have failed. In fact a blade with true strength in it's metal should be able to strike an object much harder (metal for example) without chipping. This might have been my bad luck or just a one time quality glitch. After all the great reviews, I have to agree about everything. The quality overall is spot on.

Jadestoned: very nice for slashing branchy bushes, or chopping down tree fodder, handle design keeps alot of the rebound energy from hurting you while applying the beating on whatever it is you decided needed a thorough chopping that day i know it sounds ridiculous but i honestly think i could chop a reasonable large sized branch if it were down in the street an i couldnt drive around it with this an it would be faster than a handsaw- no i didnt say chainsaw- a handsaw yes although you might be just as tired by the end of that branch blocking the road unless you use a chainsaw, but come on you gunna keep a chainsaw in the truck all the time for the random branch on the road or tuck this knife somewhere easy an convenient for those little workout session in the middle of the road?

Kleine Angeberei for coolness.

Constantin Draghici-Vasilescu: Although smaller, it surprised me leaving the HalfChance Parang in the dust with heavy path clearing in the forest. It is a very well designed tool.

BonEcho BladesBonEcho Blades: Another great machete/chopper from Condor. I took this on a 4 day backcountry trip, where I used this as a solo tool to chop, split and shave wood for camp fires. It’s not too heavy and can be useful in clearing brush aswell. The edge held up perfectly. The swedge is kind of annoying when trying to baton trhough wood but it’s not a big deal really. The leather sheath holds the knife well and is typical Condor quality

Fabio N. L.: The blade is thick and well sharpened. The blade profile is something different, a mix of khukuri and parang. The wood handle is comfortable and beautiful. The leather sheath is well done and fits well, but it's a little tough to take off the knife. A good chopping machete.

Hawk: The Condor Amalgam is long enough for sweeping through some loose underbrush with a blade thickness and blade belly to chop through branches of varying thicknesses (and effort). The handle shape and angle with pummel bump feels natural in the hand and lends to a nice snap right before impact. The smooth wood is comfortable to the hand during the trial period and for a long adventure. For a trek I personally would use gloves (with any machete) since I am an office worker.
I added a paracord thumb lanyard but leather cord may be better.
Unscathed blade edge and quick wipe after initial trial use looks perfect.
