Smack MacDougal: Decades ago, shoe maker / seller Thom McAn sold a mountaineering boot famed for its red laces and tan suede upper. It appears that Columbia was trying to capture that look.

The boots fit snugly on my feet, which is my preference, as my feet are not wide.

I have yet to test these under all conditions. At $70, these were a fair buy.

Daniel DoMo: Excelente calzado, sus materiales, la piel, el tejido sintetico, la entresuela suave y suela resistente y antiresbalones es de lo mejor, muy libiano, como un tenis de caminata, los he usado durante poco mas de 1 año en diferentes ambientes (frio, tropico semiseco, tropico muy humedo) y las botas siempre me protegieron sin sudoracion, sin entrar agua. De ancho el modelo WIDE es muy bueno, el unico problema que tuve es porque yo pedí medio numero mas grande para que me quedara holgado con calcetas acojinadas o de lana gruesa para caminar grandes distancias, pero el calzado viene mas amplio de lo esperado, me sobra como una talla ademas del espacio adicional para llevar doble calceta acolchada. Sin duda las volveré a comprar cuando estas acaben su ciclo de vida util. Las recomiendo ampliamente.

Gilbert FalknerGilbert Falkner: Bought these for short hikes around my home on gravel/mud paths, some of them quite steep and slippery.
The boots fit great. I usually wear size 9 shoes, so I went for size 9 1/2 for these boots. They give good support around the heel and when hiking up and down steeper paths, I feel very secure and the sole has good grip. I can't really tell about the sturdyness/longevity of the boots yet, since I have not worn them long enough. So far, they seem to be holding up really well after the first couple of hikes. At the price I paid ($59), I can fully recommend them.

Raul: Primer día con ellas se sienten cómodas y calientes en cuanto a la lluvia pasan con excelencia el test fuy al monte todo mojado y lloviendo aggaran bien y no entra ni gota de agua llegar a casa y con la manguera echarle agua y listo como nuevas ni le eche espray repelente al agua ni nada lo único la talla el 43 son 28 cm no los que pone en la tabla a mi pesar coji una 44 para tener los 28cm y al final tuve que cambiarlas de lo demás excelente

Pasquale Galasso: IMPORTANTE: Ti consiglio di prendere una taglia in più, ad esempio prendi il 43 se hai la 42, questo perchè il tallone scende dritto ed è ben rigido, non esiste un'ansa che sporge leggermente oltre il tacco, questo fa si che se pur la scarpa sembra della taglia giusta, di fatto resta leggermente corta. Inoltre quella della propria taglia calza abbastanza stretta, qui di la taglia in più non resterà larga. Questo è il mio consiglio personale. Le scarpe sono di qualità massima.

TheBashfulWaiter: I bought these as I needed a boot of this kind to get through the fall and possibly winter when it snows where I live and when a full boot isn't necessary . Merrell wasn't having a sale on the shoe-boot I now use as something to throw on when taking the dog out. I've had plenty of Columbia products in my family and when I saw these were on sale for $59 I knew I had to jump on them. Fit me perfectly and lace up tight but not uncomfortable and they'll definitely be getting their full potential during winter.

Pragmatic manPragmatic man: I purchased these for a ten day trip to Colorado and Utah. I wore them around the house to try them out. They felt good so they were the ones I picked over Danners, Keen, etc. it was a wise decision. We hiked three national parks, a national forest and state/local areas. These were comfortable, dry (it poured at Blue Lake), warm (tundra over 12,000 feet), and light (just 2 times the weight of slip on Sketchers).
The traction was excellent. No blisters or any other issues. I wore wool socks as I always do when doing serious hiking, which probably added to the comfort.
Don’t hesitate to buy these!

Descent900: I've been using these boots for about a year now and they've met almost all of my expectations.

Knocking 1 star off mainly due to these not keeping your feet warm in the slightest. I know these aren't advertised as winter boots, but I have tennis shoes that keep my feet warmer than this boot does in the winter. I pretty much have to double up on socks in the winter if I use these boots.

But for the positives though, these boots are rugged. I've taken them on numerous hikes in the Rockies this past year and the tread on the bottom has shown nearly no wear and provide amazing grip. These will probably last several more years at this pace (and I'm rough on my boots). The waterproofing is excellent. I've trudged through plenty of soggy deep mud without any issue. I was also hiking a 14er yesterday that required a creek crossing and I lost my footing on the rocks and had to step into the water to prevent a fall. The water came up nearly to the top of the boot and my feet were perfectly dry. Not a single drop of water got in. I was able to just continue walking in the water without issue. Even other boots advertised as waterproof have not faired that well, especially if...
