NABILA IBRAHIM: Okay. So this product did NOT come with any instructions. Although I am pretty handy and am able to figure out how to assemble to go about installing things on my own...this was a nightmare and dangerous doing it solo. Firstly, step would have really helped and would have saved the drywall from abuse. Also the support brackets are not strong/sturdy enough so I had to purchase end brackets. I will try to redo again with SCREWS and not nails and secure the brackets to beams I suppose (again, instructions would have been extremely helpful).

Honestly, this product SHOULD COME with end brackets and definitely with instrucitons!

Kimberly Skertchly: Está práctico, pero muy dificil de instalar. Trae unos ganchitos que seguro sirven para las casas de tablaroca, pero no para una pared normal. Para martillar los clavos que vienen en el paquete, tendría que romper el gancho, por lo que mejor usé pijas que no vienen incluidas.

Family: Pain in the butt to install for various reasons. It's always frustrating when a product expects you to own a tool other than a standard screwdriver.

In order to hang this shelf, you need to drill pilot holes in the wall.. well we just moved and I have no idea where my drill bits are, so it was a hassle trying to get pilot holes in the walls- and no, there's absolutely no way you can get around it.
Additionally the nails seem slightly too big for the plastic, and as a result, we have some gross holes in our wall where the plastic started sinking in from trying to push the nails in. Lovely. on top of that, it was challenging ot put the shelf in because the nails wouldn't go far enough.

I've installed a lot of products and this one gave me trouble. Don't get me wrong, now that it's up and done, I like the shelf. it feels sturdy and looks nice, but the installation was a hassle.

Joe: I used this in the laundry room, I had to cut it to size. The only thing I would say is that the nails aren't the best fasteners for the bottom support brackets. The nails kept popping out, so I ended up using screws with anchors instead. Otherwise the nails seem secure enough for the top.

I got these to put over  Olympia Tools 84-906 Hard Wood Workbench  in my bedroom used for crafts and hobbies. I am old school and believe shelves that are hung on a sheet-rock walls should be attached to the studs. However ClosetMaid’s instructions for this self said that the rear hooks could not be further apart than 12 inches and they only provide five of those hooks. They also indicate the braces can not be placed further apart than 36 inches. Neither of those limitations work out very well for hanging their 48 inch shelf on studs that are spaced 16 inches on center --- not without more hooks and modifying the braces.

The braces are designed to fit right under one of the smaller wires that run from back to front. The hooks are designed to fit between these wires. Thus “both” can not be be aligned with a stud. Their grids must be ½ inch offset. I also did not care for the way that the brace seemed to exert all the force on the single weld joint for the small wire that it hooks around. Thus I decided to modify the brace to directly support 1/4 inch diameter horizontal rod...

Strider: Placed 2 of these in my laundry room for extra closet space and storage. They look great and the metal is a better option then wood due to the humidity that can accumulate in a laundry room. I chose to use screws instead of the pens given because a review I read said it would hold better and they were right. The hanging clips that come with it have the clip (that clips and holds the shelf to the wall) and hole area for the pen I just cut that part off with shears and was able to use a drill and screws. Also two wall brackets come with each shelf. I actually used an extra two I had purchased and placed those under the self and I am glad I did because the amount of clothing and other things I put on the self is better able to support the weight and it gives me a piece of mind to know it will not fall down. The hanging mechanism is a little loose but once there is weight on the bar it has not been an issue. To conclude:
Great for a humid area.
Use screws, not pins provided (cut off ends of clips with shears if using screws)
Also have a hacksaw handy (this can be used to shorten the shelf if needed, and yes it comes with little covers for the rough ends after)
Buy extra...
