Madhav Lal: Highly overpriced, it contains only very small parts of the classical compositions. I found it to be highly frustrating, and don't think it is at all useful for adult learners.

Jeri Heydon: Pretty much what I was expecting. The book is just meant to give the player a ‘taste’ of each piece, but this it does well.

Magnolia Powers: This is a good book for beginers but not all the songs are completely accurate. Songs like Pachabel's Canon in D for example is not written correctly. I assume this is becasue the real songs are too hard. But other songs like Greensleves and Ode to Joy are well written. If you are looking for accurate songs this is not the book for you, however if you are looking for songs that are good for beginners you are in the right place!

LINCOLN LAMOUNIER: Para quem mora no interior dum país atrasado como eu moro, um livro como esse é um tesouro. Agora é só imprimir e tocar.

Toni: This book has a good variety of melodies with a variey of levels of difficulty, I'd say from raw beginner to confident beginner. The tunes aren't in order of increasing difficulty, though, so it might take a teacher's help to decide what pieces the student is ready for. I'm a teacher currently using this book with a highly motivated first-year private student who says he loves classical music. His favorites in this book are the Blue Danube Waltz (one of the first solo pieces he ever played) and the Hall of the Mountain King.

Amazon Customer: As an adult beginner, I wanted to be able to play some songs rather than just the exercises I was working on. Based on reviews from here, this became my go to book. The arrangements are perfect for building some technique, there is some nice variety, and you'll be able to play some songs pretty quickly.
The only complaint I have is that there are fingerings indicated over every note - it's not even really much of a complaint, except I've been trying to avoid crutches like that... and I believe there are some that are wrong... Slightly distracting if you are working on pure sight reading. Even that isn't enough to prevent me giving it 5 stars.
If you are getting started, this is a highly recommended purchase.

Katie: We received this violin today, and I must say I am impressed with the quality for such a low price instrument. I played the violin for several years, and now my daughter is going into orchestra. We bought this violin instead of paying $42/month to rent one. Just seemed like a much better option!
I was a little leery because of some of the negative reviews, but I'm not sure what they were expecting for this price. It's by no means a professional, or even advanced piece of wood, but it will get the job done until we are more into orchestra and playing a full-size instrument.
The strings are okay. I'll probably upgrade those a few months into lessons. It took a while to get tuned, but what brand new violin doesn't? I had no problems with the pegs slipping like others have mentioned. The bridge was easy to place and isn't too large like another review stated. The shoulder rest isn't too horrible, but with time will need to be upgraded. The rosin was cracked, but it's cheap, anyway. The bow, violin and case were all in perfect condition on arrival and everything was packaged well.
Overall, I have no complaints and no regrets on making this purchase. I would...

William Nix: The songs are not long enough. Is there a beginner book with the violin songs full length as easy at this?
