mariah: I bought this stuff because I have not been able to find Sambal anywhere for quite some time! I read a ton of reviews on other comparable items on Amazon and decided to give this one a shot. This is my new favorite, I have used it as a replacement in several different recipes and have enjoyed every single one! I would say that it is very comparable in spice level, but that it is a thicker consistency and may be harder to mix into certain things I suppose.. that is not a complaint, just some thing I thought others might like to know :) I’ve purchased twice. The second time it was leaking just a tiny bit but we figured it was fine.

Frank- Charleston SC: OK I like to watch cooking shows or really grilling and smoking shows and in one of the competition shows a competition chef was using this to add an Umami flavor to one of their smoked dishes. I purchased it to try in chili and it really is amazing. There’s a deep, rich recognizable flavor that really made the dish. It is not hot or overly spicy but it does have a touch of spice so if you’re sensitive to that I would use small amounts and taste. Very good product. I’ll continue to buy it.
